a thermalright ultra 120 extreme. I am putting bits together for a new build with (likely) a Q66 and it will be overclocked. My question is, is it worth me buying paste (ie. OCZ Freeze) and using it instead of the themalright stuff? I ask because rather than coming pre-applied the thermalright paste has come in a tube.

cheers

btw before anyone recommends AS5; http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/user-rev … sults.html !

I'd normally get aftermarket paste. Go for some Arctic Silver 5.

Thermal paste isn't expensive, so I always have some lying around. The TT stuff isn't bad and if you're not concerned with squeezing out every last °C it will do fine.

I recommend arctic silver 5, they also have useful guides on how to put the paste on for C2D's and Quads (this helped me)

Actually Max looking @ some reviews etc. the thermalright stuff isn't bad but the OCZ seems to be better. The TT stuff does however consistently beat the AS5 in terms of reduced temps however.

If you want to squeeze out every last MHz from your OC, get some expensive aftermarket stuff. For everything else the TR stuff will do
