I agree. I used to like to fly on maps with planes and helicopters - infantry was never fun. Now flying AND playing infantry sucks on maps with planes and helicopters thanks to 1.2. Thus is the reason (after getting sick of dying at the hands of a camping Cobra) I have now chosen to play Karkand almost exclusively. I'm digging the close combat/close ticket games.Vic42 wrote:

Teamwork is important on Karkand, and the lack of air power makes teamwork even more important than on most maps. If Karkand does tend to collect more lone wolf players than most, you can't blame that on the map. The team that plays as a team will win 90% of the time.
Long live karkand, but the servers I like the best have a full rotation of maps.
I don't like karkand. It's the ugliest map, plus, you can only see 5 feet in front of you!

I play mostly Dragon Valley (ok, yes a lot of it....it's my BF2 comfort food) /Dalian/Daqing and Oman. I've only recently started to enjoy Karkand. Some buddies and I like to get a good squad going (yes, lots of teamwork going on) and it's a good map to practice maneuvering in tight places. Plus it's almost like two maps in one. You could really spend your entire time on either side of the river. It's just a neat map so I can understand why people like it so much. Plus it's a sniper's paradise.
The thing is, is that when you play Karkand..... nearly every time (i just played 3 rounds and it happened each time) that for the first 7 or so minutes there is a huge nade fest and the front with apcs and tanks firing round after round in the general area of the other team.
only a group of 3 or so brave people go round the side to suburb to try and cap to open the game out but it get closed out pretty fast.
I dont understand why people find the nade fest at the start is fun.... and people cant deny it happening...

I play Karkand because I like the action and do not like WALKING. On maps like Kubra I'm getting bored really fast, because all action somewhere in the other place and you have to walk/drive/fly there. Also I got a crappy PC so it is kinda hard to wait loading each 2 rounds(most of the "all maps" servers run it this way). 24/7 servers run the same map at least 10 rounds before reloading, so I do not have to wait alot. I'm not afraid of planes/helos or something like that.
Btw... I don't see what the problem is... If you do not like Karkand or cannot adapt to it just don't play it. No offence.

I mostly play Karkand, Sharqi and Mashtuur about 70% of my time on Karkand. This is because I enjoy playing as infantry. It's not that I can't fly, I just don't enjoy it. Most of the time, I play for the team not as a Lone wolf. There’s nothing more fun than being in squad of six trying to cap a back base on Karkand then running into an enemy squad of six and shooting it out, with NO vehicles getting involved. The problem with other maps is that if you spawn and can't get into a vehicle your stuck running around on foot in a HUGE map...... This is Boring, you could end up spending several minutes of game play running to a enemy base only to get bombed or blown up only to spawn and do it all over again.

I definitely agree. I am going to stop going to servers that have Karkandnandhahd every 2nd map. I've found that I have the most fun on the maps that involve the Chinese. I find it interesting to play some of the other less played maps e.g. dragon valley, oilfields..

I see little or no teamwork at all.... people just play it for the kills and 'teamwork' (how reviving someone in the line of fire of a prone PKM just to get shot again is teamwork i dont know....
People play karkand for kills and points... just for the stats basicly.
I PLAY FOR FUN! sure, i like getting medals, badges and ribbons but i play to enjoy myself...the idea of a game.

I hate Karkand. My favourite so far is Fusche Valley, cause I was commander there was 7 rounds and we won everytime 100 -0 or 98/97 - 0
I play karkand like most other just for the points. But I figuare when I hit 20,000 points ill start to play other maps alot more seeing as how points wont matter as much. 20,000 to 50,000 is just a huge ass gap

I dunno about you guys, but i love Kirkland.
Personally I like most of the maps equally, with Karkand, Sharqi (yes for the goddamned billionth time it requires teamwork), Zatar, and Dalian slightly favored.

Well, as others have said, my reason for liking karkand is simple, NO AIR POWER! I dont like the fact that the US gets 2 armor pieces while MEC only gets one, or the fact that the US can take the MEC base with their tank (gets very one sided when US has 2 tanks and an apc and MEC has none), but I still like the map over many others. All the bigger maps are great fun when the enemy team doesnt have a big skill advantage in pilots.james@alienware wrote:

If your team is evenly matched with the enemy team all maps are fun, but if your outmatched your game quickly turns into spawn/sniped, spawn/bombed, spawn/tank shell, etc. On maps with jets and armor to spare I dont care how good you play, you cant fight the entire enemy team alone. The reason that I like karkand is if I wind up on a team which is bad compaired to the enemy I can still play the game and have fun. The tight streets let you run circles around enemy armor (and you can spawn AT to take them out), their are no jets to bomb you or helo's to harass you, and you will be fighting against people in groups of 1 or 2 most of the time so you have a chance to survive alone. Dont get me wrong, I like teamwork and will try my best to help a team win a map regardless of what gets me the most points, but when its hopeless to try and win I do like being able to enjoy the game rather than spawn/die/spawn/die over and over again.
Thats just why I like the map, I'm just so sick of jets/helos making the game totally unplayable. (and sorry, but I dont switch to the winning team to get away, I'll eaither stick it out and hope for a chance to break away or just get sick of it and put down the game for a few days)
