I saw his 'hero's welcome' on the news this morning. Very bad taste in my opinion. There are a couple of guys locked up here in Ireland who killed a cop while robbing a post office on an IRA 'fundraising operation' - they didn't qualify as soldiers eligible for release under the good Friday agreement and the same principle should apply to this Lebanese guy.

It's a tough one.

Whatever you think of the rights and wrongs of the various sides involved, they are fighting a war and in war shitty things happen, and shitty things are done by people who are thought of as heroes by their own side.

But, that does not excuse his or anyone's actions in war.

This is why I am so anti-war - though I accept many people do many great and honourable things during war, it also makes otherwise good people to do shitty things, and gives bad people a perceived 'excuse'.
