Wouldn't you want to keep the spam in one section of the forums anyways not others? (Ala ping pong attack)

So the mods were just lying to us?

No.  The mods are not lying to you.

About 12 weeks ago when the forum structure was finally implemented on trackr (before the "500" were invited), it was not included because there was consideration being made as to whether EE would be implemented as (a) a regular forum or (b) an isolated-out-of-the-way group ...

Why (b)?  Because of the spam.

So, simply, mods were heavily enforcing the anti-spam rule of this site to encourage option (a) and preserve EE as a regular forum.   Apparently Jeff made the decision several weeks ago to retain EE as a regular forum, but (with all the other construction on the forums) he forgot to implement it.

I really think Trackr was opened up to the 500 horde too early. I mean don't get me wrong, I understand why, but it just seems the chuy and the people involved opened themselves up for some seriously harsh criticism when if they had just finished off some of the design and layout work before, then they would be able to concentrate on functionality.

I can only speak for myself but I am not in the posistion to be critical.  I couldn't do better myself and even though a member for a long time now I see myself as a guest here and as a privilidge.  The arguments on both side of the coin are obvious: 500 in now to say what they think is good and wrong, or like you say only open it up once completed but then any criticism could be more serious as your viewing a final product not a mock up.

But maybe this is the problem. If the site is still in the "mock up" stage, then really it should not be open to the 500 as they will just be reporting known graphical, layout and technical issues.

This is just me speaking from experience though because one of the sites I did recently was opened up to the office a few days before it should have been for internal testing. I was aware of many bugs/things which had not been finished yet, but all of a sudden I was getting emails from all the office users telling me about the things i knew!

Its a good point Dude and just reminds me how I'm grateful I dont understand that kind of thing (web design) or need to worry about it.  I don't even worry if I spell words correctly, I got the easy life here.

Yes, there are some of the "500" who are unhelpful and negative, and they've been vocal on BF2s.  Perhaps they don't get that trackr is under "development" and that they are being asked to invest into the site.  Instead, they are approaching the site as consumers.

But, there are many others of the "500" who are responsibly attempting to help get the site running ... they are making very helpful suggestions and commentary, and some are even beginning to write some impressive content for the site.

ok, sounds like a bit of a dig at me. No problem, is sort of understandable from the hitler mods around these days.

Tried to give some input on trackr in my first ever post there and was shot down by liquidator, again understandable.

Hitler mods?

Well, no.  Actually I wasn't thinking of you at all ... I wasn't really thinking of anyone in particular.  Just a general comment.

The mods here at BF2s are quite generous, I wouldn't consider them Hitler mods. The only reason they might be is because people have pissed them off and they won't tolerate it anymore. They are sick of disciplining people that are of an age that should require little to no discipline at all.

Figuring there might be a few spare mod slots over there Ryan?

Kudos for still trying though.

It was a response to what the other guy said about Hitler mods. I'm not trying anything to 'get myself in' or whatever you guys think.
I'll be too busy with work and school to moderate a forum anyways. And if there were new moderators to be picked, I'm sure there would be a lot more people above me on the priority list.
