Laggy/Unresponsive downloads?

Every download today that I've done in internet explorer is just fine until it comes to the run/save option. Most of the time I have to wait a while before clicking save actually does anything. Why is this? Does it have to do with my System idle process chomping 91-99% of my cpu? (or so it says in wtm)

If its idling at 91-99% that means the CPU isn't doing anything. What version of IE are you running? Also does it work fine in Firefox?

IE7....I'm pretty sure. Not sure about ff I'll go try a wallpaper.

The percentage after "System idle process" is the part of the CPU that is unused. 99% means that only 1% is used by programs.

Well today (I had to get off last night) I downloaded a skin off of mozilla firefox for counter strike and it worked fine....but the same went for IE. My SIP is still at 97-99% cpu though....*shrug*

I have this too - under FF2 at least, not sure about FF3 - the "save to" window opens and the save button is grey and is clickable a few secs later.

Actually my problem is that it IS there it just doesn't respond when I click it.

Everything's fine now but...task manager still says System Idle process is chewing up 89-99% of my cpu...why is that?
