...If I've already synced an iPod with one computer's library, can I sync it with another computer's library without erasing the media that was already on there?

inb4ipodssuck, it's not mine, my younger brothers.

If it means anything its a current gen 4GB Nano

I am pretty sure the whole concept of syncing it with a computer means that whats on the ipod = whats on the computer.

In other words, anything not on the computer you sync with is erased.

That is exactly what happens.  Pretty rubbish but you just have to put up with it.  Not sure if there's a program or hack of some sort that would get round it.

sure, if you use linux or if you get a music manager that isn't itunes and is compatible with multisyncing.

I have my iPod set up on two computers. I just tell it not to format when it asks me on the second computer.

This man knows what he is talking about.  Just uncheck the automatic sync in your update options.

The easiest solution.

And if you don't want to use iTunes, use ephPod.

Hmm I'll try that.

Thanks for the help everyone, but I've just erased and re-synced.

Yeh, due to iTunes not wanting people syncing their iPods to other computers and getting friends music / videos (media) they only allow one iPod to be synced to one computer

its pretty ghey.

When you plug your ipod in go to settings and turn off auto sync, then you can take music off of multiple computers.

I had to do this when I got my new computer.
I plugged in my iPod and it all transferred the songs on my iPod to iTunes, I didn't lose anything.

While not the best option... in the area where you choose what to sort by (artist, album, ect...) you can right click and add/remove a catigory...

One of the categories available is "Date added"
Once you get things up to date you can just periodically check the most recent stuff on your itunes against the most recent stuff added to the ipod.
