Alright so my PSU fan, its giving up the will to live, I can't play any games or my computer overheats (I guess the PSU gets too hot, cant pump out any power, graphics card fails, etc)

Right now the fan barely turns and doesn't even turn sometimes, its a crappy budget Cooler-master PSU (Im not even gonna bother using the warranty now it's voided, their customer support is apparently crap. And it didn't see crappy and budgety when I purchased it )

Right now it feels cool-ish so it's not having a problem with websurfing.

So my question is, since the 120mm fan is 2pin, anyone know any fans I can buy off the internet to replace it? (US)

I looked and couldn't find any 2 pin fans sadly, and I'm not a big modder so I really don't want to convert a 3 pin to 2pin.

I plan on buying a new PSU soon but till then, .

Just cut the old 2 pin off, buy a 3 pin 120mm (or molex, doesn't really matter) and then tape/solder the wires together. It's extremely easy, and it's colored coded so you can't fuck it up.

I don't think they sell 2pin fans so, that looks to be your only option.

I actually just did this, thanks

now I have to tape the wires, and them I'm good for some DMC4

Had an old 120mm fan 4pin molex that broke (the wires pulled off the 4pin molex thing so no practical use for it) cut some wire off that, then cut the old fan off the 2pin connected, stripped what was left of the 2pin, connected the wires (twisted them around, no solder , but would solder work well enough permanently instead of tape? I think I know someone with a solder gun, could do that , I'm sure electrical tape will work (dont have any atm, used to, lost it, gotta buy some now) but just seems ghetto >_>

how should I go about soldering the wires, leave them twisted together (two wires, apparently my 4 pin 120mm only had two wires, red/black) or carefully untwist them? Since the wires seem really brittle >_<. Typing on the computer right now, fan turns on, it has LEDs too, they turn on, made sure the exposed wiring isn't touching anything at all, probably gonna die soon lol >_<

thanks crazed

also can anyone help me figure out why my CPU fan either goes slow or really fast enough to cause vibration at start up? it's a basic-ish heat-sink/fan combo, socket 939, started doing this oddly after I took off it and made sure there was any paste left between the CPU (didn't add any, just made sure) it doesn't do it while the computer is fully operational (desktop) , but not sure if it will when it starts to get hot, RPMs seem to be normal too, so

it's also securely screwed/snapped in

You don't have to solder them, twisting them together and using electrical tape is enough. It's not like it's going to move around or be strained.

If you want to solder it, just leave about an inch or so of bare wire and bend it each wire in a hook shape, then put the hooks together, and twisted it. Then just put some solder and then tape or heatshrink on it.

Usually when a PC first boots, all the fans go 100% for a second...or, at least mine does.

Alright, thanks again :p, might do the hook thing, depends, the fans wires are long enough to do that but the 2pin is really short so I probably cant hook it too well
