Im not a big fan of drinking Starbucks, but I do it anyway.
In Hong Kong there's a lot of them and it's the only place I've found with decent coffee (mind you, I don't go around looking for great coffee, I just don't like the coffee I've gotten in other places). In mainland it's one of the only places I can find coffee if I don't make it myself.
And when I'm home in NYC, I end up drinking it just because when I'm outside already, deli coffee is either way too hot or way too sugary. And like someone else already mentioned, there's a Starbucks on every corner here. I go to the deli to get coffee when I don't plan on leaving my apartment to go somewhere. That being said, I only ever get regular coffee there which is like $2 compared to $0.75 for deli coffee (of the same size) but I'm already spending $8.50 a pack on cigs living there, what's another $1.25 on coffee?

Anyway, egotistical atmosphere? I honestly can say I've only felt that once, and it was when I was standing in a long line with everyone ahead of me ordering the longest things possible. and they screwed up my name... put down Mark instead of Martin... next time I'll say Nikolai
