Here's an ethical question about TK-ing for planes:

Is it wrong to TK somebody who's trying to line-jump into a plane you've been waiting for?

See, here's the thing-- I believe in taking turns, or waiting to take your turn in your vehicle.  In fact, when there's a guy in the hanger waiting for the plane who get's strafed by the enemy, I'll revive him and go back to the corner of the hanger and still let him take the plane.  I always stand back with my gun pointed away.  I'll even type "your plane" so it's clear, when somebody's there first.

But alot of other folks don't seem to play that way.  If I'm the one waiting for the plane, they'll come up and pull a knife or take pot shots or bunny hop in my face, even if it's the guy who just smacked the plane into a tree (especially then).  It used to be that, if they stole the plane, I'd just quit and find a less populated server--

NOW I JUST SHOOT THEM.

I just don't have the patience for line jumpers anymore, and quitting always seemed to add a loss to my win/loss, as well.

The thing is, I'd never TK somebody who's already there.  Heck, I'll even back the rightful pilot in a fight against another line jumper.

It seems pretty simple to me:  You don't cut in line at the 7-11 or the movie theatre (unless you're looking for a fight).  Why do it in game?  It turns into lord of the flies out there when it happens.

So do you think it's wrong to TK in this case?

I'm afraid I'm of the opinion - first come first serve. If you can't get in the plane go do something else or find a less populated server. I don't TK to get in planes because when it happens to me I get so angry - Why inflict that on someone else?

I know how annoying it is to keep losing the race to get in a plane to some idiot who will fly around for ten minutes without getting a kill or some other guy who will keep crashing it into a tree but .... hey .... thats the nature of the game.

I know the supposed philosophy of BF is teamwork but how often does that happen? It's one messed up game (blame the ranking system) but I don't think there is any excuse to TK - go join a clan and enjoy their server (it really is bliss when you have the power to kick these little f**kers). Line jumping isn't cool but first come first serve. Learn the exact spawn location of jets and wait on the spot with 'E' held firmly down - you'll get it more times than not.

However, what do I know is that  the number 1 aviator in the game KAM (or whatever he's called) regularly TKs to get in planes - he plays alot on EA UK servers and has TKed me several times to get into a jet - so maybe he and the poster of this thread is right.

Anyway, thats my twopence ... but who cares

LMFAO, no sir after you!

tk'n for vehicles is noob shit, but then so is using the imaginary queue system!

Yes I know its a team game, but if I know I'm good in a particular vehicle I'll be f$#&ed if I'd let someone else have it.  Unless the bloke has 50 kills and 0 deaths, maybe I'd make an exception.

I've seen ppl flying to the edge of the map in a heli and hanging the nose over the border to kill the gunner and ppl creating extra accounts to follow ppl around servers who have tk'd them and continually tk em back.

damn noobs

If some ass steals a plane from me that i was waiting for i c4 the plane let him fly for awhile.. usually wait till he comes back to rearm and BOOM. Then ill hide let em retake the plane and do it over again... usally blow him up soon after he takes off the second time. Now this is only if i was wating by myself for a few minutes and he comes out of no where and takes it. lol they deserve it

No matter how long and/or convoluted the excuse, a TK is a TK and is lame.
What exactly causes a TK? One word: SELFISH.

On our server (DMZ) we have a queue for vehicles rule, meaning first to the spawn is the driver, so if you wait in line, then you get the plane. Personally, if someone nicks it I would stand under the wing, but we're not allowed to take it into our own hands, so I can't.

The problems there are that everyone either believes that they are the best pilot... or they want to fly and don't give a damn about winning.

I f$#&ing hate losing, always play for fun but win the round and finish on top, thats my game.

I dislike it when people wait in "turn" for a jet. You're wasting time standing around on the pad when you could be capping flags. I've lost several rounds just because there are 4+ odd people standing around picking their butts waiting for aircraft. The jet pilot is going to be respawning to get that jet after they crash I can almost promise you. Go do something productive rather then taking a team ticket when you TK him for it.

Nothing worse than playing and realising half your f$#%ing team is spawned on the carrier.

I agree, unless the jet pilot is totally stupid, let him have it.

Well, it seems to me that the lines work better if you enforce the line system yourself, or if you show somebody in advance by saying "your plane."  Shooting them and saying "take turns" also seems to get the idea across-- especially if you revive them before the plane comes.

Generally I pick less populated servers and less popular maps so I don't have to get into this.  But every now and then somebody comes at me with a knife and starts hopping and swinging, or firing off a grenade.  I've been killed like this more than once.

I guess it's like fighting in school-- will you be punished?  Yup.  Will people be angry with you?  Absolutely.  But you absolutely have to stand up for yourself and not get walked all over.  Don't start the conflict.  But don't cave in to avoid it either.

I've yet to see a line that works either, but back when I used to play jets, the system that worked for me was holding e on the spawn with everyone else, and the faster computers got the draw (It's sorta random but if you stand right where the pilot seat spawns you get in 90% of the time). Anyone who didn't know the exact spawn didn't get in until they learned it too, but basically once you got in the air and stayed in the air for 10-20 minutes people stop spawn camping it and if you die you can get right back in and keep going. It's exactly like NM camping in FFXI if there are any MMORPG geeks here.

If someone actually created a line and let someone go ahead of them, I would let them have their turn, but most of the time there is actually no line-ups; I literally only saw lineups a handful of times, and the lines disappear as soon as you get in the air for any amount of time. Anyone continually waiting for the jets has no real skills with them or they wouldn't be waiting for them so much.

Honestly, you can stay in the air for a long time with a jet, once you get in it, its not too hard to keep it for the rest of the round. You're welcome to flame this as plane whoring, but there is nothing against doing what you love, and flying is just a tad more fun then the pkm is now, but barely.

Regardless, I've played Wake Island (my whore map until I moved into SF and Sharqi) enough to know that if I was China, getting out of the J10 would result in us loosing more flags then I was comfortable with (I played in a small server 12 vs 12). So I flew the J10 or the Z10 to ensure a win and have fun. The next round when swapped to USMC, I refused to fly the F35s because they are slow, and their turn-around time is very poor, and you don't help the team at all in a 12 man server on USMC unless you are capping flags, so I blackhawked the flags and whored the kills with the miniguns to ensure a win every second round on USMC.

About the 4+ people in line--I Agree.  If it's that crowded, I probably won't even log onto the server.  If there are 4 people waiting for a spawn, I'll find something else to do.  That's too juicy a target for artillary, anyway.

In fact, if I'm waiting more than a minute or two, I'll find something else to do.  But it's usually obvious from the map and how they handle the plane if somebody's going to wreck soon or not.  That's when I'll hang out in the hanger.

I get frustrated too when I'm up there trying to protect the flags, and everybody's hanging around the base, waiting for me to crash or wreck.  That can take a really long time-- and the game can be lost in the meantime.  I'll get a lot of kills that way, but I'd rather win.

oh boy... this waiting in line bullshit makes me sick... did people ever notice that there is a team out there trying to fight and probably losing because 5-6 idiots are waiting in a virutal line, to get a jet? thats just egoistic bullshit

first come, first serve and if you dont get it, go help somewhere else. it's not like the guys on each side are not needed. waiting for a plane is nothing more than causing damage to your own team, because the other team outnumbers yours....
