i need a laptop for just basic internet surfing/word processing stuff. so far i have found this. any input on it?

any other ideas are welcome too. i would like to keep it under $500 if possible. i am also going to try craigslist.

xp would be my first choice, but i guess ill use vista if i have to

acers suck. They are cheap for a reason. I've had 3 family members/friends who had hardware problems with their acer laptop. Also the power connector on acers are weak.

I have a friend whose Acer's video just stopped working in under a year. When sent back for troubleshooting, they even sneakily took out the fast memory and replaced it with slower modules. The effect did not make the computer work, and they gave up.

Acers look nice and feature-filled, but watch out.
