Jet/Chopper Controls

Right now I'm learning to fly and I'm using a control pad. My Jet controls seem decent but I can't seem to fly the chopper for some reason, it will not cooperate and crash basically. I need a control scheme that will hep me fly the chopper or Jet easier.

The controller has the same controls as a basic Ps2/3 controller, use that as a guide

Works wonders. Sensitivity 10 yaw 10 pitch 10. Left hand on WASD and right hand on mouse.

well that explains why it fails when i use the controller, anyway some good jet controls would be nice

I use a keyboard and mouse for jets too. Sensitivity is 4 I think and you have to play around with the yaw and pitch so it fits your needs.

I set (or well San4 set) my jet controls to the Joystick and it works great. Tried to do it with the chopper...not so great.

The chopper actually needs to precise movement of an M&K set-up.

get a mouse with adjustable DPI, preferably one that has little buttons on it to adjust it on the fly (see what i did there?).

Logitech G5, G7 both do that I believe. I have a G7.

Mouse and keys for jets + helis, could never be arsed getting a joystick and I do fine with mouse.

My controls (may not suit you )

Obvious stuff;
WASD for throttle + turns
Left mouse for cannons
Right mouse for bombs/missiles
Shift for afterburner

Not so obvious;
F : switch bombs/missiles
R : flares
Q : 'chase rear' view
Space : cockpit view/toggle cockpit display
E : enemy spotted

I've got a G5, and for chopper I use the highest sensitivity on the the mouse and 10 in the control options, but it's still really slow compared to the joystick (which I suck at using). eg It's easy to do a roll with the joystick, but with the mouse I run out of desk 6 times (literally) before I get back upright.

I move my right hand to the keyboard and use the arrow keys when I want to do a roll. That way you don't run out of desk space.

Get some Logitech stuff for that.

G9 Mouse for inf and chopper.

Extreme3D Pro Joystick for jet.

And get a big mousepad if possible.

i like a joystick for heli. you can do prettier tricks.

oh and make sure you swap the yaw and roll controls on the stick, or you'll find it difficult to stay steady.
