Vinyl and CD aren't as gone as you'd think. I've got a DJ friend who has loads and loads of vinyl, and much of it is modern music that came out recently. Even has a bunch of stuff autographed by the artists, it's pretty awesome.

I don't think vinyl will ever die, at least not any time soon. But it will slowly subside, as it has been for a little while.

Vinyl will never die simply because of quality, nostalgia and collectability. Cutting vinyls is a practice that won't fade out of the music industry- especially the 'underground' for a very long time.

Thanks for the software recommendation... I have a few different applications, but in my opinion nothing is quite as intuitive and useful as an actual tangible piece of kit there in front of you to play around with. However I do agree that the combination of hardware and software through MIDI is probably where the 'future' of DJ'ing (and on a wider scale, electronic production) lies.
