okay i've read almost every single comment in this post now. I myself do run windows XP never had any problems whatsoever at all .So I've come to a conclution almsot every of those who say vista is better admitted they have/ or have had some sort of problems or bugs/glitches...but they like the details and extra functions even tough it reduces the FPS rate while gaming compared to XP....while those who like XP better say that they don't like vista just for the bugs and the lower game preformance , that they rather have XP with better gaming preformance and less funtions.

So basicly its all up to what you prefer...and what you do on your computer...so neither is really better...but my opinion in this would be that you can be a cheaper gamer with XP than with vista...ain't I right aye?

Again, that's probably not Vistas fault, but is probably due to you not having Vista RAID drivers.
Again, of course I googled my ass off about the issue, and turns out, that Vista Ultimate x64 With SP1 cannot read RAID drivers on P35 chipset or something like that.

But Vista Ultimate x64 With SP1 can read RAID drivers on a chipset other than P35, yes?

(I believe you'll find the answer to that one is 'yes')

Therefore, the problem is not so much 'Vista Ultimate x64 With SP1' but more the 'RAID drivers for the P35 chipset'.

(the full truth of course being that the problem is the combination of the two)

Edit: and, as I think kyles post (below) points out, is probably not actually a problem with all P35's, but with (a) specific model(s) of P35 based mobo.

Guess I was lucky ... or smart. No wait, that's not really possible. I was able to install RAID fine easily before I had even installed Windows with no CD, memory stick - /go ASUS (Vista friendly! ... well, their drivers are a bitch)

Avoid Vista if possible.

I'm an IT guy at a mid sized company, and about half the Vista machines have really odd problems.  For one user, everytime she restarts, her entire desktop gets wiped.  And on my machine, a week ago I had to burn a large number of CDs (~500) and halfway through Vista flopped over and died.  I had to do a reinstall.

I've spent a lot of time reading about Vista on the Microsoft forums and the consensus is that it is probably the most bug filled OS in a while.
fail admin is fail

lol j/k  vista has its moments, but you really gotta understand how it does things to make it work.  i personally love the new group policy controls with vista.  i can do literally everything i need to the vista machines from the comfiness of my chair.

Obviously MS is hacking into your computer and speeding the fan up to help them spy on you.  Obviously.

I can quite categorically say that, if you have problems in that department, it most definitely is not caused by Vista (well, maybe by the vista, but not Microsoft Windows Vista).

I installed Vista twice. Second time it was even worse. I'm not giving it another go even though I have a legit copy of Vista.

Meh... Have you actually used Vista SP1?

I have a pretty average spec laptop with Vista Home Premium, and a decent desktop with XP.

I have a lot less problems and bugs with Vista. I had ONE problem that was fixed by SP1 otherwise its been better to use then XP.
I don't really prefer one OS to the other but even with a 1.5ghz C2d and 2 gig of OEM ram its ran fine.

UAC can be turned off easily, and you can free up a bit of resources by turning off the sidebar,  Vista is better at finding drivers automatically, Vista has a useful search function for the start menu, and lots more little stuff.

The only program I have had compatibility problems with has been Solid Works 2007, and that is only because they specifically made an XP version and a vista version, and I am trying to install the XP version on Vista. Even then I could get it to work by just running the installer in XP compatibility mode. (Vista offers compatibility modes all the way back to 3.1)

BF2 also had problems that were fixed by turning off UAC. I think being paused a minimized causes some problems. I know on XP I have had lots of crashes with games when I tried to minimize them and do other things.

Overall vista has been fine, if not better then XP though.  I am pretty convinced that most problems were either during the initial release before proper drivers had been released, or the users fault.

Ditto. my new pc came with vista home premium x64 installed and it is way better then x32 which i have on this computer i am typing on. but then again this computer has a celeron and my other computer has a quad core.... so i cant really argue. but yes i think if you have the right specs vista is the shit.

Rofl. Just after I read that, I stopped reading any further.

Do you think you credibility rises when you state such a thing? Hahahahahaha.

I have had Vista since the start, and once I got my new computer ( which was last year in June ) I have not had 1 single problem that was directly connected to the operating system ( yes, I have had to format several times because of buggy sofware, but not because of Vista ).

I had to get a new computer BECAUSE of XP fucking up my files. Funny that.

You had to format because of buggy software? So, is that like the host of software that wouldn't work when Vista came out and changed shit unnecessarily or is this just that buggy software one comes across and has to reformat their computer after?

Remember folks, freeporn.exe is bad.
