Just some more cold-war style saber rattling? A real threat? I'm hoping it's the former. On one hand it would be a bit hypocritical for us to criticize the Russians if they did this when we're installing missile systems in their backyard, but then again our things are supposed to be for defense while bombers are used for offense.Washington Post wrote:

It was unclear if the source was suggesting that Russia would reopen a base in Cuba or merely use an airfield there for stopovers by the bombers, Tu-160s and Tu-95s, which are already capable of reaching the United States from bases in Russia.
