I have problem with my wifes laptop.

When I turn it on it starts to boot.
Then it will just restart in a loop.

I was looking at the bios screen and it restarted.

Sometimes it will make it to the last know good configuration screen, but goes no further even in safe mode.
I've had the RAM and hard disc out to check for dust.

Any advise or things to try please, I have no idea what to do and now she wants a new one

The CPU may be overheating and it then shuts down to prevent damage, happened with my pc a year or so ago, heatsink wasn't properly attached.

Problem with your battery perhaps.

Take it back to wherever you bought it and see if it is under warranty.

It's an old laptop with new problem.
I think it might just be time for the bin.

Windows has loaded, but it's really slow.

The original problem was that it wouldn't finish booting.
It was restarting while booting, after about 4 seconds.

Could this be as simple as worn-out RAM ?

Sounds like glorious PIO Mode.

Why would it just start?

How would that cause it to continuously boot?
