I have no idea wtf it's about:
The first moives, like Finding Nemo, Shrek 1, and Madagascar were good.
But what is with the massive amounts of terrible movies? Wall-E, that one about the "superhero dog" and the rest of them?
Its all bs I think, they made lots of money with the new animation and now theyre pumping movies out with faulty storylines and bad jokes in an attempt you make some quick cash (speculatively like the GTA Movie... Hey, we made money on the game we can make a shitty movie and make some money too)

Only one of those movies is by Pixar tbh.GodFather wrote:

My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
Shrek 3 was terrible. As was Shrek 2.

Films they've actually made...
and
WALL-E was pretty good.
OMG LOOKS SO FUNNEH I JUS KANT WATE!!!!11!1one!!1
I think Pixar's best days are behind them ... they are now Disney property. Everyone seems to be rating Wall-e highly, but I thought the movie was one of Pixar's worst.
Wall-E was alright, in that it actually had substance. However, other than the fact that the captain resembled the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, I didn't really like it, especially compared to other movies that came out that couple of weeks.OrangeHound wrote:

But yeah, Disney bad.
The point is about animated movies all togetherCheez wrote:

Cant wait for Toy Story 3
in 2015
in 2015
I never bothered watching Incredibles/Rataouille/Cars. They just never appealed to me to make me even want to download them. Dunno why. They seemed abit too kiddy/cheesy. Wall-E looks interesting though.
those 3 were far better than wall-e...Mek-Stizzle wrote:

of course, watching them without someone else to watch them with is difficult, but they are enjoyable given proper circumstance...
Wall-E was charming.
It had some of the same charm Pinocchio had in it, prior to wooden boy's fall from grace. Gepetto's workshop scenes in the beginning are equally charming as Wall-E, only difference was that Wall-E was basically charming from start to finish.

Slow to start, but once on the ship I thought it was hilarious.
Spoiler (highlight to read):
Especially when all the fatties are piled up with chairs with EVE, and on the big screen the captain is standing up and walking to the '2001: Space Odyssey' soundtrack.

Yeah, he was charming ... and his animation was good (basically, it was just the Pixar lamp converted into a garbage compactor, however).topal63 wrote:

My problems with Wall-E were
Spoiler (highlight to read):
1. It mixed animation styles for no clear reason - earth was one style of animation, and the spaceship environment was another. I assume this was a feeble attempt to contrast the two environments, but it really failed.
2. There was no true hero in the story, and that weakened the ending. Wall-E was supposed to be the hero (which was clear from his "death and resurrection"), but because he was not pursuing anything heroic, the ending didn't have the impact it could have. His only motivation for his actions was his "love" for Eve ... self-centeredness doesn't create a hero.
3. The spaceship concept was wonderful, but the writers absolutely FAILED at creating a convincing story here. Indeed, I liked the thought of mankind degenerating into self-centered blobs, but there was no rationale for the "awakening" of the captain ... his character didn't develop conflict other than perhaps getting pissed at the autopilot for controlling him.

I agree with #1. The styles were too much of a visual contrast in terms of detail (not just color and grime differences). The shots on the ship had an over-stylized look - that artificial smoothness you see/get with phong-type computer shading (and the lack of detail contributed to the overall look - that it lacked impact).
Other than that I liked the fact that there was no development. He wasn't the standard mythical hero form rather he was just Wall-E (one of millions at one time but now only one, that's what made him seem charming and circumstantially precious). The other large Wall-E types on the ship (in the garbage hold) even appeared to have a similar purpose and robot-personalities (if you can call it that?). He was just being. He wasn't self-centered. He was oblivious naive and innocent. I think you could say the same of most things in nature. A subjective determination of good or evil seems pointless. They just are. They are natural. Wall-E in a sense was a natural.
It was random if anything - a chance meeting. Wall-E had a boot with a plant in it and he didn't know what it was nor what it meant. And, that turned out to be a key, for a human return to Earth (on a ship where a bunch of humans were equally oblivious naive and innocent; unaware even - that choice had been stripped from there being. They were bored in their existence and didn't know it until Wall-E's serendipitous new found love and new found purpose; Eve; intertwined with their latent-yet-to-be awakening, and future-return to Earth).
The movie didn't identify a villain per se either. There was what happened 700+ years ago and just robots doing their duty (in the here and now). A couple of over-zealous ones (robots) were keeping them from their appointed return, but even they were just an obstacle to be overcome in this serendipitous adventure; neither evil or villainous.
And I like the end, that his memory was not lost. The persistence of memory is actually the ultimate question of existence. All continuity of meaning and existence is based upon memory of what has just past into it from the eternal moment. The return of his memory was like a softly spoken magic spell. Something many people yearn for when they consider the metaphysical; and the passing from this life into infinity.
Eh, that's all an IMO of course.
