Nothing?  I was going to go out and perhaps buy one today but wanted to hear about them first...

Are you talking about using it in your car as a radio? If so - RoadTrip. I recommend it!

Yep, and I see it's by the same company as well.  But damn that's expensive!

It's really very good and reliable ... my brother and I must have clocked over a thousand hours on it and it still works flawlessly. And, if you drive *really* close to another car their COOL FM will be replaced by our jazz!

Heh, that's fun.  What car do you use it in?

Don't even know that car...

I've been reading around and the reception seems to depend on the car.  It works well in Lexus cars but not Infiniti.  I have neither.

i use a cable that plugs in to the back of my cd player and in to the headphone jack. the quality is amazing compared to that of a shitty fm transmitter

Invest $5 in an RCA cable with the 3.5mm jack on the business end. Agreed with ig - cabled quality is worlds better than FM transmitter quality.

Now if you're using a stock radio, then you have a problem. To rectify that, head over to www.crutchfield.com and buy yourself a new radio. They're pretty cheap there ...

If it has a cassette deck, use a headphone/cassette adapter. It's a good physical connection, quality seems fine to me when I tried it and I'm at least a small audiophile, and they're probably cheaper then the transmitters.

Beware though, you should try to get them online if you can. Consumer electronics stores charge $20-$30 and they're not worth that much.

No cassette deck, only a CD player

I'm with i g, i have a cable for mine that plugs into the bottom of my ipod so i can just control the songs through the head unit rather than the ipod itself...very handy

My freind did some thing genuis,
He has a mercedes the old A class and it still has the tape device, but he ran his normal headphone wire thorugh the tape thing and onnected it somewhere so now he plugs the ipod to the earphone plug and boom, Ipod music from the regular car stereo.

how does it work/sound?

Press the button and it searches for the clearest station.  Tune to that station and you have your music playing there.

It sounds pretty good, my mom's Subaru Outback speakers aren't really the best to begin with - but it definitely sounds no worse than the clearest radio station.
