Do the same thing I do with my mom, start off slowly and try to hang yourself after 30min with the mouse cable
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

"Lets start at the very beginning, a very good place to start"

Go through the basic's,from the start menu. Then show him word-excel and firstly the stuff he going to use when he is on the pc.
He is only going to learn from using it as much as possible so,strat he off easy and go from there.

buy him a "computer guide for dummies".

But yeah start with explaining keyboard and mouse, and turn on and off the computer. Then go to word, typing (he's used to typemachines). Tell him the advantages of being able to fix errors quickly. Then save and load.

After a long while, teach him internet and email. Then the next twenty days, keep explaining the same things when he forgot it. Good luck

Make sure he's the one sat at the PC, tell him what to do, don't do it for him it doesn't work.

Tell him to do something, don't explain it, let him sit and look for how to do it for a few seconds, if he's stumped tell him where to go and what to do, again let him do it, don't take over, and get him to take notes so he remembers in future.
