Why change the universally accepted parlance of our times just for you? I'd imagine they'd be pretty damned offended if you told them they weren't being proper Jews.lowing wrote:
Then they are NOT practicing their religion. Whatever they are practicing needs to be called something else.
Let them attack, I'm not going to waste my time watching the Olympics any way.

The sentence "Muslims that do not practice well, they are not practicing Islam are they", was conveniently taken out of context. What I was referring to, based on the conversation was. you can say you belong to any religion you want, if you are not following the teachings of what you claim to be adhering to, then you are not following that religion. you have made up your own religion based on your needs and conveniences and desires and agenda and calling it something it is not.
Do Chinese Muslims get their Koran from a fortune cookie?
So anyone who does not 'shun' women during their period is not a Christian? I guess there must be an awful lot of people out there who aren't actually following an organised religion, even if they think they are themselves.lowing wrote:

It's in the bible that Jesus never renounced during his reign on earth. You're always going on about how Muslims don't speak out against extremist elements of Islam, why does Jesus get a pass when it comes to the bible? Shouldn't he have abrogated huge chunks of the old testament?lowing wrote:

Interestingly enough if you read the different versions of "Paradise Lost" in both the Koran and the Bible you'll find that the Koran's version is a lot more fair. In the Bible everyone knows that Eve was to blame and God cursed the female gender etc. In the Koran though both genders share equal blame. While the Bible promotes a partriarchal society in "Paradise Lost" the Koran does not.lowing wrote:

That's not to say that the Koran doesn't support a patriarchal society because there are many sections in which it does, I just think it's very interesting.

You keep refering to the old testament that was 2000 years before CHRIST was born.Braddock wrote:

IT really is hard to have CHRISTianity 2000 years before CHRIST Braddock. Not too sure how many time I gotta point that out.
Do you know why you can not refer to the New Testament when trying to compare Christ and Muhammad? Because there is NOTHING in the teachings of CHRIST you can use against him. Nothing. So you naturally must resort to the Old Testament to try and debunk the teaching of Christ. It simply does not work.
There wasa NEW Covenant established between God and the people of the world and the messenger of that NEW Covenant was Christ.
When talking about CHRISTIANITY, it is this NEW Covenant that matters.
And so why didn't Jesus tell everyone to burn the old testament and be done with it seen as it was so contradictory to his own teachings?lowing wrote:

I would imagine that if by delievering his message as the pathway to heaven, then he pretty much did just that.Braddock wrote:

Well he didn't do a very good job then did he because many denominations that fall under the modern banner of Christianity still teach and follow both testaments, despite them containing messages that are at times completely contradictory to each other. I guess Islam isn't the only conflicted and contradictory religion lowing, eh?lowing wrote:

There are two topics about Muslims here. I swear it seems you guys are having the same conversation in two different topics
Nope, it is not. Christians that do not follow Christ are just as mis-guided, as Muslims that do not follow Muhammad.Braddock wrote:

Oh we probably are, we both just like to fight.Mek-Stizzle wrote:

Well whether you like it or not millions of "Christians" pay attention to both testaments. You're arguing about labels and definitions when at the end of the day it matters not a jot as religion is basically fairy tales for grown ups to help weak minded people deal with harsh reality. If members of any religion want to twist and bend their faith to make it more compatible with modern society then I'm all for it and I couldn't give a shit what they want to call themselves.lowing wrote:

Cleaned up a lot of angry off topic ranting.
IG, your approach was ridiculous. Show respect to all members of this forum. Everyone else, just report it (as one member managed to do quite thoroughly) so as to not escalate the situation.

For the record, I don't report stuff, so it wasn't me.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

the reporting party was not in the discussion
well maybe the reporting party should understand that it's only a bit of banter, we're all adults here (mainly) who have been shooting the shit for years now in this forum, turn the sensitivity down a little..
