Anybody go to TAFE or doing the TVET course atm?
Next year for year 11 im doing Computer Hardware Servicing, which 2 guys at my school did and they said it was awesomequiche

Anybody had experience with TAFE? Whats it like compared to school?

Tafe is awesome, im currently doing automative mechanics (part of my apprenticeship)

i did a tvet course aviation. it was fucking sweet, enough knowledge to go for your cpl ( i guess it depends on your teacher)

i have friends that did hardware servicing and they said it was the shittest thing ever, made for people who have never touched a computer and the teacher had No clue whatsoever

where are you doing it?
i did my tvet course at gosford, and im doign my course now at wyong

Dunno how this worked, but i read in that BS booklet, that its for teh 11's and 12's, but mates in 10 did it this year

i think you can do it in yr10 if you do that thing where you do extra subjects in yr10, so you dont have to do as many in yr 11 and 12

VET's done as an alternative to the VCE (HSC I assume for yoosguiz), Tafe is usually post-secondary education. Cert I-IV.

Im doing it at Ultimo, just across from the CBD in sydney, its near a couple of PC shops so it might be alright, also it counts towards my UAI so if i already have extensive knoledge before going into a class of people who have no idea then allo allo psychology course at uni

OR I MIGHT CONTINUE all the way to the TAFE diploma level with it.

OR I COULD JOIN THE ARMY w/e

yeh ive been to ultimo a couple of times,

in yr11 (2006) i did this thing that was run by Young Achievers Australia and we had to make a business. there was seminars and meetings and shit all at ultimo

In nsw, a vet course is a course that is not a HSC course, but it is accepted under the HSC with practical experience included. kinda thing if you know what i mean (retail..hospitality.. that kind ofthign)

a tvet course is a tafe delivered vet course. so its just the same thing, but you do it at tafe instead of school

With the TVET course im doing, it counts towards UAI which means its a unit covered by the HSC, and 35 hours of work placement is required.

My school offers the work placement, but id rather work at a shop thogh.

My local uni has a number of TAFE courses running.

Most are locals who drop outta school so do cooking, or carpentry.

But it's a good trade to learn.
