So the PSNI's Assistant Chief Constable Peter Sheridan says
"The PSNI has intelligence to lead them to loyalist paramilitary arms dumps once the decommissioning period has ended."
Why wait until the decommissioning period has ended? if the police know info to lead them to illegal terrorist organisations weaponry surely they have a duty not  to wait until the decommissioning period has ended, but to remove them from society ASAP before someone is killed?   given that the decommissioning body has been twiddling its thumbs for 10 years with no engagement from Loyalist paramilitaries why wait 6 more months? what loss of life has there been over the last decade because of the PSNI's inaction if they have this intelligence in their possession but not acted on it? I find this very disturbing tbh..

the decommissioning body was an independent organisation that was set up to deal with the removal weaponry held by terrorist organisations within our society here.  They oversaw the destruction of the Republican weaponry arsenal a decade ago, then sat about for the next 10 years with their thumbs up their metaphoric asses waiting on the Loyalists engage with them & to do the same. Then the home secretary gave them an ultimatum that the decommissioning body would only exist for 6 more months after which all amnesty would be removed and all weaponry seized after this time would lead to prosecutions..

It well known the IRA haven't handed in all their weapons, its unlikely the loyalists have either.
The security services have a good idea where both sides keep them but up to now haven't wanted to upset the process.

Really? how is it well known? what evidence are you basing that statement on? All we can say for sure is that the independent decommissioning agency tasked with removing weapons from the conflict were satisfied that all IRA weaponry had verifiably been put beyond use.  I'd imagine this must be the case based on British / American / world  intelligence agency estimations of what arms they had in their posession, compared with what was actually destroyed. So as far as we know your statement has no factual evidence to back it up in reality.

Either way, it is inconsequential to the question of the "duty" of our police force  acting to remove known illegal weaponry from civil society, when they have in their possession intelligence to its whereabouts & yet are not acting on it..

Because the politicians have more time in university than the police, so society deems their opinion more valuable and therefore it is. Right?

Politicians suck.  They tell the police they can't do shit, meanwhile the bad guys can do whatever they want, fuckers.

There has been altest 2 punishment shootings in Loyalist  areas every week over the past 10 years while the IRA have been decommissioned. They are using these guns on their own people to control them, to control the drug trade, prostitution and extortion. Jacky Mc Donnelled (top UDA leader) stood up at a rally the other day and proclaimed, "they are our people's guns which are to protect our people and we won't give them up until we are satisfied the republican threat is gone" The IRA hasn't killed a Protestant in over 10 years. Yet his organisation routinely murder protestant people with UDA guns over drugs and money. The Protestant people need to wake the fuck up and reject these thugs instead of looking to them as some kind of protector of the faith. The UDA doesn't need to exist. It was formed to protect the protestant people from the IRA, who don't exist.
The UDA has been a massive criminal outfit for years. I heard a cop say they are responsible for 90% of the drugs coming into our country. The Police know this yet they do fuck all to take them down. Personally I want closure on our past. That isn't going to happen until all the guns are gone.

I hear you there man, but when you have the Loyalist community out attacking children the other day, just  like back  during September 2001 (see quote), and, you know they are armed to the tits, you can't help but wonder to yourself if anything is ever gonna change really, or, if the the powers that be is gonna make it change..

Young players taking part in one of Europe's top international youth football tournaments were left terrified after they were targeted in a shameful drink-fuelled sectarian attack.

Yobs hurled abuse and threw missiles at the two Dublin-based teams taking part in the Milk Cup before they threatened to burn them out and threatened to kneecap tournament staff.

Crumlin United and Cherry Orchard players bravely returned to the playing field last night after they were moved from the accommodation on the north coast where they came under attack.

Tournament spokesman Jim Sandford said the behaviour of those who threatened the young players was disgraceful and said he had never witnessed such behaviour in more than a quarter of a century of Milk Cup action.

He said a crowd of young people gathered at Cromore Court in Coleraine — where the Crumlin United and Cherry Orchard teams were staying — shortly before 10pm on Monday night and began shouting abuse at players, some of whom were as young as 14.

“The abuse then developed into sectarian remarks and they then threatened they would be back later to burn them out,” Mr Sandford said.

“Our staff then went down and when they got there the yobs started squaring up to them and our staff were threatened with kneecapping.

“We waited for the police then as soon as the sirens began getting closer, the yobs took off.

“We tried to reassure the teams but then 20 minutes later a few of the guys came back and started throwing stones at the house.

“We have gone through difficult times here over the last 26 years and in all those 26 years of the cup, we have never seen anything like this.”

Paul Hammond from Crumlin United said sectarian remarks were shouted.

“There were bottles, cans of beer, bricks and all sorts coming over towards the kids. The kids were terrified. Some of them are 14, others are 15,” he said.

Both teams were back in action last night after their matches were rescheduled from earlier in the day.

A PSNI spokesman said they had received a report of a disturbance at Cromore Court in Coleraine shortly before 10:30pm on Monday. A 19-year-old man who had been arrested was last night released on bail pending inquiries.

Shameful indeed. The tournament is 20min's drive across the coast. The Loyalists up here are particularly stupid.

They could have come stay at my house. Our town ts an Island of Nationalism in a sea of loyalism.

Notice how they target kids again. Fucking cowards. I worked in Coleraine long enough to know its a nasty place if your a Catholic.
Reminds me of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holy_Cross_dispute. The UDA organized the 'protest' and its leaders stood with placards with hardcore pornography pictures on them to purposely traumatise 6 year old kids asa the ran a gauntlet of abuse each morning on their way to school. As if a couple of hundred thugs spitting on you, hurling sexual and racist abuse and blast bombs wasn't enough.
6 year olds. The enemy's of loyalism.

One of the great political double standards of our times. Republicans comply with the decommissioning process and only then as a result get to sit at the table and involve themselves in the power sharing process while the loyalists hold onto all of their weapons and still get to involve themselves in power sharing.

Did you work for the decommissioning body? I think you'll find the independent body has verified that the IRA have complied with demands, if they had not as you have suggested it would be their job to hold their hand up and say something. Even our former Minister for Justice Michael McDowell, a former 'West-Brit' lawyer who hates Republicanism with a passion, eventually begrudgingly admitted that the IRA had played ball with the decommissioning body.

tbh there is definitely a bit of tension in the air up here at the minute, dunno if it's to do with the anniversary of interment in a few days or what, but there's just a tension starting to creep into peoples faces.

LOL. That's Paudie Mc Shane. I used to play hurling with him. I have never played with or seen such an aggressive player. He would bait the rival supporters every game until the supporters would climb the fence and try and attack him. Every game. His favourite move would be to put out his hand to shake his markers hand before the game starts only to head butt him.

Now he is on TV in his suit talking about violence not being acceptable. lol. And how these thugs are terrorising locals. He beat the shit out of someone up in Dunloy a couple of weeks ago. For the same reason. He seams to be the new strong arm of the Shinners up here. That's two fights in as many weeks he has been involved in. Both caused because he has landed telling republicans what to do on their own back door step.
