Any BF2seers that collect swords? I just bought a very nice looking Katana/Wakizashi/Tanto set.

So if you have any, post pics, I will post mine once they arrive. I will show you the images on the site now though.

Nice set, especially for my price range, and first buy too. Any reputable sellers? Preferably Australia-ish but not compulsory.

I have been wanting swords for many many many years, since I was a child. A friend of mine at work told me about how he bought a 40" Zelda and I remembered how bad I wanted a sword (not a video game sword mind you ) So went online through many sites and even ebay to find a nice looking sword for my budget and got a whole set

I haven't bought a sword before but when I get older, I'm gonna get one from the Hindu dude in Myrtle Beach who sells them at a flea market, he's there every time we go there and we've been going for like 6 years.

I'm not gonna buy something I'm never gonna use, although that small sword (Tanto?) looks good for buttering bread

yeah, these swords you guys have probably wouldn't last a minute against a real sword, they would more than likely snap, correctly tempered swords cost a LOT of money as in £500 upwards each. You have to heat and hammer the sword upwards of 50-60 times to get it very strong.

I have to admit these things aren't expensive, even though I did get them for a bargain, but they are real.

no, they are cheap reproductions of swords.
a "real" one of those would have set you back the price of a car.

Bro got a katana for his 18th.
He has it proudly mounted at his place.

It's awesome, he cut his 18th B-day cake with it.

So tacky and shit looking, yet at the same time so cool.

That site has loads of cheap swords on (I guess for decorational purposes, before Parker goes off again ). I used to spend ages looking at it... But it's America only

I still fail to see how a reproduction sword still isn't a sword, it can do exactly the same thing. Maybe not as well or for as long but the principle is the same. That's like saying a corner shop pizza isn't a pizza, its just a cheap reproduction of the Italian's version.

I understand where you are coming from though.

The sword you look at are Replicas...The one that Parker talk about are SWORD. The real one.

Bang a real sword agaist a replica...Replica is broken, real sword is still perfect.

A replica is usually just cut out from a metal plate and maybe even a bit sharp.
I do not know if with todays manufacturing standards a sword of this making would still be as brittle - but a real sword is forged/hammered, driving out enclosed air etc.
Katanas are folded several times - not 100 or 1000 times, that is a misconception - and the blade is of a different steel than the ridge.

And I am tired and just typing along not knowing what was going to be my point...

n8 ppl...

no, it cant.
what steel is that sword made from?
i would put money on the fact that it is most likely made with crap pot metal in pakistan.

or not at all.
hundreds of man hours are put into true samurai swords. a skilled smith heat treats that blade beyond expectations.....the stories you hear about swords cutting through other swords and pieces of armor....ya, that shit isnt a myth.

no, that would be like saying that a reproduction sword is just that...a reproduction that is meant to hang on the wall and NEVER be used.
tell you what, when you get these swords, take the handle off, and you will see what the difference is.
shitty welds do not hold swords together, and thats what is holding yours.

Its carbon steal, its hand forged and its full tang. I'll call you the next time I get into a sword fight where it matters.
