Five Guys fries are horrible ... their burgers are well above average.

Bleh ... I would rather eat the cardboard boxes their fries come in.

Around Northern Virginia, here is my burger ranking, BTW:

1.  The ones I make on the grill
2.  Neighbors Bar & Grill (Vienna)
3.  Elevation Burger (Falls Church)
4.  Five Guys (chain - multiple locations)
5.  Fuddruckers (chain - multiple locations)
6.  Ruby Tuesdays (chain - multiple locations)

...

35.  Wendy's
36.  Red Robin

...

257.  Anything from McDonalds

If they are company owned, yes.  But there may be some franchisees out there that will not be affected (in the short term) by the Chapter 7 filing.
They'll have to change their name though no?
I'm not sure what is going on.  Steak n Shake is a separate company (NYSE: SNS) ... perhaps the company that owns Bennigan's also owns a bunch of Steak n Shake franchises ...

Edit:  wait ... the OP is confused ... it is Steak and ALE that is owned by the company going bankrupt, and NOT Steak n Shake.
Oops. That's what happens when you get old and your memory goes to shit. All the Steak & Ale's around here closed a long time ago. Steak N Shake is shit (sorry Parker) and I wouldn't have minded seeing them go. Red Robin is pretty kickass, tbh. The Royal is awesome, get that with your unlimited fries and load them both up with their seasoning. Oh baby. I think I'm gonna go tonight.

Fudd's has better burgers, but their fries sucks unless you load 'em up with that jalapeno cheese flavored crap in the pump.

It's Steak & Ale, not Steak 'n Shake. I freaked out for a minute there, too.

Fuck yeah, Ted Montana's baby.

Five Guys is the winnar for reg meat patties, I have to say.  I won't miss Bennigan's at all.  I mean, they don't get made fun of like this for being a great restaurant....

Woohoo! It turns out that only a few Bennigan's restaurants in my vicinity are closing. The one I frequent and the Bennigan's Sport shall remain open!

Never been to Five Guys. There's one way South of me in East/South Ft. Lauderdale (35min-45min) and one even further South in Miami.

I just read in the paper this morning that this chain was based in my city.

That's no good.
