I fucking hate this ISP more than ever. It's like a fucking quest trying to tell the call centres what you want. I recently moved house and want them to turn broadband on at this address which is pretty easy to explain and should be simple... No?

Ringing them up is like playing the lottery, you might just get lucky and get through to someone who speaks half decent English,  this would be getting 5 numbers. If you happen to get through to someone who speaks half decent English and has some sort of idea about technical support then you got all 6 numbers and it's time to crack out the Champagne.

5 times I called them and tried to convey my problem. 5. Same story each time, they don't know shit and transfer you to someone else because they don't know shit. Then they transfer you and so on until some Cunt cuts you off. I kept my cool throughout all the repeating myself and spelling things out. This is an example:

Me: Yeah my screename is L.E.S****
AOL: UOS?
Me: No, L...E...S
Him: I'm sorry there is no screename LOS****
Me:No, L for Lima, E for Elephant and S for Sugar.
Him: Ok errr... You will be online in 30 days ok?
Me: Well I've changed my address before and it hasn't taken this long to get it changed.
Him: Err Okay let me check...

-Music from the Hovis advert for about 5 minutes-

Him: Okay I'm going to transfer you to our other department.
Me: Right...

So now I don't know what's happening. I don't have it in my to try again and see what's happening, hopefully one of them sorted it. Paying for broadband and can't even use it...

What really takes the piss is that I had to pay to call them... I actually had to pay money to sit there through and hour of that shit. It's like paying rent at a POW camp.

I've always known they were bad but I never had any problems and thus never had to call them up in their central office in Delhi, India.

Yeah i have the same problem with Virgin.Like talking to a brick wall sometimes.
Plus they always assume your a complete pc tard.

The only thing i can see holding you up is BT normally take 2 weeks to switch the ADSL on your line if it has been switched off.

The people you talk to barely speak English, I agree, but after they finally understand your problem, they sort it out. I recently had a problem where my Internet just stopped working, so I called them up and spent quite a while expaining to them what my problem was. After you get a bit pissed (But not too much) and talk to them like they're 5, they start using their heads and sort it out for you.

Other than that, AOL have been good to me so far. Free upgrades, free routers, free wireless routers etc.

Just threaten to leave, that always makes them work hard. Got us a free upgrade and a router

^ AOL sucks don't even bother.

Anyways almost all major corporations have all their customer support people from india. I had this problem with HP. I tried 3 times and I'm still not getting the answers I'm looking for. They're all indian and it's just terrible.

I don't have to but it's just easier than changing around, ISP's are all pretty similar to me. Apart from the call centres it seems fine.
