BF2S Forums 2x commander bonus pisses me off so much

The commander should still receive a gold medal because he is the person that most likely helped his team win if you did not get a uav, supplies or arty from the commander you do not usually get that far if the other teams commander is using his uav etc. I command a lot now just recently to up my score totally commanding is easy to do and i will only play commander if my team is not working like a team should. Or if all my assets are blown to smithereens theres nothing else i can do im not gonna scan the whole map on the x3 zoom! And as for playing as commander i think EA dont care about that if they did you would not be in the game while commanding you would only get a commanders screen and not much else you can do like move or etc. Dont start moaning at peoples tactics while being commander!!!

A commander doesn't spend all the years in training to become a commander so that he can run around the battlefield with a bunch of troops... He stays in a command-center, and leaves the job to those who spent all the years he was in commander-training out on the battlefield doing infantry-training...
A commander isn't a squad-leader, incase that wasn't immidiatly obvious..

Dropping UAV/Supply/Arty by use of the 'T'-button is well and good, but a commander who "crawls into a hole and looks at the map" will be able to see where the enemy are heading because og his scans and will be able to zoom in on them and spot like a mad man..

That's the big difference between those commanders who cares about their team, and those who doesn't.. It doesn't matter if UAv isn't available, because the commander might just zoom in on you and talk to you about what his God-eyes see...
(and yes, I used the forbidden word: talk... A commander who talks is worth more than one who doesn't)

And by the way... you do know, that commanders do not get a frickin' single combat point or teamwork point? Nothing for killing someone and nothing for resupplies, heals, revives or repairs?

I played on Wake once, in a long round with not too many people on the server, and I got 184 points. The commander had over 300 because of the 2x bonus. It was ridiculous.

Nope. I disagree entirely. It's easy for me to kill a ton of people and get silver with a sniper kit or a vehicle... but it's tough to work with a team and actually get them to work together win. It takes a lot to be a good commander.

About commanding and fighting: Doable. In a vehicle... but I would only recommend it when the player counts are ridiculously small.

Sure, it annoys me when I've been sniping all round and doing amazingly well and the command gets Gold, rather than I, because of it, but its just a little bit of virtual metal. Who cares? Just have some fun. Besides which, they've probably done quite a bit.

Sometimes people who don't deserve it get it. Usually, they'll cause their teams to lose. Whatever.

I can live with it. If the rewards weren't high, everyone would just command and do nothing, pushing their rank up a bit every time. After all, mutiny votes never work. So just command, don't bother doing anything except drop Arty every once in a while, and go up a bit win or lose. Giving a commander no incentive to actually COMMAND and WIN is silly.

i tihnk the 2x is necessary. Think about it.. the commander HAS to sit in one spot the entire game. He doesnt have the opportunity to rack up points by reviving, blowin strat objectives, etc. he can only watch it through a commander screen and wait for his arty/UAV/scan/supply to refuel. if his actions directly influence the outcome of the game (i.e. critical artillery strikes, resupplying squads in need, UAV right places at right times, etc) then the 2x is a nice gift. If, on the other hand, he sits back a watches the individuals win the games, then no, he deserves a - 1/2 on his score...

I couldnt agree more.. 19 out of 20 commanders are either:

a> totally useless to everyone.

b> helpful to themselves only.

Prime example;  X3 Clan server..  Go there if you wanna see some retard clannies run the
server 'the way they want too'..  dont even try to command, you will get kicked... and watching
those retards help themselves disregarding the rest of the team is a joke..

EA's whole ranked server / ranking system / point system etc. is a disgrace to online gaming.

First of all, its a scam.. why do ranked servers cost most than unranked? I still havent gotten
an answer to this question after 6 months..  Secondly, it promotes egos, which ruin the whole
community (Im a Sgt. Major!!!... Blah  who the hell cares.. ) Endless threads with 'Hey look at me!
Look at my stats! Look at my cool looking signature!... hahahahahahah.. gimme a break..

The whole setup of running a server in BF2 is a joke, also.. case in point.. the voting system..
Got a problem with a tker ? problem maker ?  too bad, cant do anything about it.. even when the
guy has -99 points..

The commander mode should be a server option, just like a lot of other things... but since EA
demands that their precious ranking system stay in tact, they will institute rules that punish ALL
to thwart a tiny few...i.e. (10 babysitters needed to join before game starts..) what a crock.

EA sucks, and not only that, they suck bigtime.  They'll NEVER see another dime of my money.

What the hell does a medal matter?  You in it to play for fun?  Even if you want the points, you're playing for that, right?  A medal is pointless.  Suck it up, play, or apply for commander.

so...that guy sending UAV's in to help you get those kills, therefore making your score get higher....

and that guy who calls in supplies when you need repairs to your tank/apc or need ammo or health....

or that guy that calls down the arty to clean house so you can cap a flag....

I'd rather be second to a winning commander than have the best score in a losing effort

jesus stop bitching about those stupid metal-stars... commander is a part of the game, a commander has a place in this game and a commander contributes as much to the victory of a team as any other team-member hence he deserves them as well.

take a look at this screenie.our team sucked badly but so did the sas.our commander never left the uncap.yet he gets 2 points less than me.wtf i did all the work,its easy to drop supplies etc.i have no problem when they earn their points and 2x its just a bad commander with a good team can get gold thats wrong.
