All the endurance athletes in Australia have been told they can pull out at any time from competing if they feel they are at risk of health problems.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are the worse affected.

and THAT was a worthwhile investment.
just give it a few months...the income you generate off that prime real estate will allow you to think about larger purchases.

....like a bridge for example.

What do you expect with a country that has 1.3 billion people in a landmass that is roughly the size of the United States? It's gonna be more difficult to handle pollution in China that most places in the world. But at least the government is acknowledging the problem.

people always think the marine layer that burns up is the diarrhea smog.  There are plenty of days in the years where the air perfect.  Dont you love how everything always looks as soon as it stops raining or whenever its windy?

Don't bother calling your place a city if it doesn't have some good old fashioned smog, although it's quite light here these days

my cousin was going to school there... she said the babies wear diapers with holes in them... and the parents just hold them in the air in the middle of the street and let them go... she also said if China doesn't clean up their act... it won't matter what the rest of the world does to live clean....

Lol @ China.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Mr. vice-director of the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau why do the "clouds and haze" never clear?

At least the athletes can't complain that any country is wearing a special speed suit, after everyone has the acid rain melt away what they are wearing.

It will look like the original Olympiad with everyone competing naked.

I'd buy tickets to the women's pole vault, but wouldn't be able to see anything through the fog anyway.

Never had any health problems there, hazy all the time though.

Look, the haze is even in the mountains.
