It was a guess based on a documentary and abit of rooting about done awhile back. Cant remember the source.

While just about everyone knows that Los Angeles took a hit from Pentagon cutbacks, few people who don't live there understand the magnitude. The county with the most military-related production lost roughly half of its high-paying military-related jobs from 1990 to 1995.

Most of those laid off are seasonal and part-time staff, while the 200,000 remaining state employees would have their full salaries restored when a budget was agreed, the governor said.

Opponents said there was enough cash to pay full salaries and the state's financial controller, John Chiang, vowed to ignore Mr Schwarzenegger's order. The workers receiving the federal minimum wage will be reimbursed for their full salaries once a budget deal is reached.

Schwarzenegger issued the threat last week after he grew frustrated with lawmakers' inability to reach a budget deal for the fiscal year that started July 1. He was expected to sign the executive order Thursday, the first day of the August pay period.

I'm sure this has a lot to do with sagging property taxes. There are a lot of foreclosures in CA (A good majority of them were flippers). They have far more than any other state. Taxes aren't being paid on those homes.

Be nice if equal press was given to Don "soon to be indicted and found guilty" Perata and his group of asshats calling Schwarzennegar's bluff (did i spell that right?). They have the simple task of presenting a budget...but no...they would rather play politics with the governor and call his bluff and make him out to be the bad guy. Too bad Arnold can't withhold paychecks to the legislature who are the ones responsible for not doing their budget on time... But it's not like it matters, the lowly state workers still with jobs will get their lost pay back when the budget is approved.

county, although quite populous does not represent the state. Im very familiar with the defense industry in los angeles. I live less than a half a mile away from JPL. I goto school next to the Parson's building. But, its a big country and there is a huge defense industry in the south.

That certainly doesn't mean arms production. There are many defense contractors that work in CA, particularly in the SF Bay area, that had to relocate due to BRAC closures of Navy facilities there.

he was/is sucked so hard by netjets, that he has a empty plane follow his in case it breaks. i know because i used to work there. i also remember having to reposition a back-up plane for him from Charleston, SC, to Sacramento, CA. epic waste
