That mother, I use the term loosely, should be shot. Reading that story brought a tear to my eye being a parent myself. How could anyone neglect a child like that?
Wow... this is mind numbing. It's so hard to imagine something like this could happen. Rarely are heroes like this talked about.
The mother obviously incapable of raising a child, and giving anyone else attention more than herself. She is selfish, and probably should have had an aide to help her raise her kids.
And to think, just the other day I saw Gone Baby Gone, and thought that was bad. At least that girl was... normal. She could talk. She could hug. Not sure if it's based on anything...

Ive dated a few single moms. One of them who was herself abused (hence she had no family support also). The Dad left them the day after the kid was born. The things she has done just to get by is nothing short of inspiring. I've seen too much to accept just "tough circumstance". My dealings with the social workers when my older sister was frothing at the mouth and freaking out about the money when pops died was probably typical; she showed up, did as little as possible with as little interest as is imaginable and left never to be heard from again.
The closet I ever came to striking a woman was the day my dad died and my sister revealed herself as the greedy coniving cuntface bitch she is.
She took my mom to the bank and had her withdraw all the money he had, just enough for burial expenses. It was only under threat of legal action that we were able to use his money to put him in the ground. My sister assaulted my older sister and cursed me to die as the social worker sat there looking annoyed.

Social workers did intervene. Obviously it was late, but apparently even the neighbors were unaware that she had another child. If you can show me that the DCF workers knew there was a problem prior and that they ignored them then you might have a case here. This isn't your typcal abuse case. The child was locked in a closet her whole life. No school, no interaction with anyone. The only (ir)responsible person that even knew she existed was her mother. Well if no one knew about the child then it's really not the governments fault. I blame the mother fully. She should be locked away for years to come for this crime. Poor girl.
