Right guys, that's the price range £150-£200 ($294-$392) and I wan't a half decent pc for that price, not too bothered about gaming just now as I need it for college, but I want the quickest system I can get for that price.

Nothing, really. You need at least $500 for anything functional these days

STRYYKER I LOVE YOU.

you'll not get anything for under 200 mate, try looking at clearance sections etc.
You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

Pentium3, Vodoo 2, and a Velociraptor. Should be enough.

You guys are horrible. If you play it smart and make some compromises, you can get a very decent PC for that money.

First, we need to know, what you are upgrading from.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

We gotta know, so that we know if he can re-use some parts, and so that we don't suggest downgrades.

yea, but he wants a college computer, not upgrades from his old rig to this.

Yes, but to make it this cheap, it'd be very good to re-use some parts, like case, CD-drive and HD. If his old computer is some BTX Dell, we can't re-use the case, which is a good £20.

unless if he wants his old computer up and running and have a second computer for college etc etc.

can't really tell what this guy wants, but whenever this person posts up, we'll know...
