As Per Request from ATG...

S3v3N's definitive guide to securing our southern border.

How do we secure a 1700 Mile long border?
A physical barrier, fences and a deep fucking trench is possible, but it'll take forever to build.
Placing landmines and claymores along the border.. No Dice. however it'll only take one time for them to figure out not to walk there when little Pedro looses both his legs.

With what I've been through and how I see it working goes alittle something like this...
A major military base every 170 Miles.
A minor base (barracks) every 50 miles. (jail, doctors, supplies, living quarters)
a 2 man guard post every mile, that would mean 340 personal in a guard tower during one shift. 3 shifts. 1020 People. (the span of the whole border) Each tower has a spot light and Forward looking Infra Red camera.
a 6 man foot patrol that walks 4 miles. 2 patrols in opposite direction of the minor and major camps and at random areas of insertion of patrol (not always leaving the base and walking west, being Flown in my via helicopter 9 miles to the west of the base.. etc etc)
Military vehicle patrols that travel from smaller base to smaller base.
Helicopter Patrols with FLIR cameras.

A detainee camp for all those that think they should cross the border.
A "Get the fuck" policy for Law Enforcement and other entities to enforce to rid our land of illegals. Take 'em all out of our prison system and off the streets right to the camp on the border.

Rules of Engagements. simple, they're carrying a weapon across the border they are a hostile force. Deadly force will be used. (signs will need to be erect in Spanish)

well something like that anyway.. I would go into more detail but I've got better things to do.

Why not just provide a route to amnesty, simplify the citizenship process, but kill all smugglers/gang members on sight?  A virtual fence would serve us better than a physical one.  We'd just need the national guard stationed along the border.

What about the 1030498 other people that cross where people arent.

Its alot of easier to stop the leak from the source.. not when its 40 miles down the pipe.

You forgot the part where manpower is used to search every vessel entering the United States (cars, planes, cargo freighters, etc).  Every citizen (regardless of ethnicity and age) needs to be checked at every entry point to the US.  What about the coastal regions?  You really think that if we put a physical presence on the southern border illegal immigration will stop?

Part of lessening this problem is simplifying citizenship so less people will try the illegal route.  If we make getting citizenship easier, these people will be more likely to follow it.  We'll just need to heavily restrict immigration from countries other than Mexico.

In short, Mexico provides us all the cheap labor we need.  All other immigrants should be educated or wealthy before they can gain citizenship.  We can control their immigration much easier.  Controlling immigration from Mexico is nigh impossible.

How about be quick on the gun to help "fix" the situation instead of point out what my overloaded mind as forgotten?

If my quest in life was to really find the way to doing so, I sure as fuck wouldn't be working for the BLM buidling roads and bridges...

The "fix" to the situation isn't easy, and isn't as narrow-minded as physically guarding our borders.  I could write thousands and thousands of words in response, to provide what I think would be necessary, but it is a waste of time and Jeopardy is back from commercial.

And you aren't getting paid for it.  I think there are all ready several different options and detailed plans, but sadly little action.  And the invasion continues.
