Smart, my mom told me that kids who have their car given to them tend to take it for granted and are more likely to wreck it.  It's a good thing she doesn't say that for insurance, lol.  I don't drive though, haven't bothered signing up because it has no practicality for me since all I do is sit on the computer all day anyway.
It's true if you buy your own shit you'll take care of it.
And i have to pay insurance too.
And gas.

For now im just gunna barrow my moms truck when i need to go places, because she doesn't live with me, so i dont need insurance to drive it.
Ummmmm what state do you live in that insurance isn't required for you to drive it?  I thought that was like an all-over thing.  Driving uninsured/unlicensed is terrible.

And jaded with society?  All I did was ask the kid if his mommy was buying him a car, which seems to be a trend with the kids on here who refuse to leave the PC screen and get a job.

koala, there's nothing wrong with mommy buying him a car as long as he understands the value and whatnot. its not as easy to buy yourself a car now as it was back in the nineties, and even if it was, why should it matter that his mom did buy him one? instead of being annoyed by it, try being happy for him and saying good for you.

Notice I said because they're too lazy to get off their asses and get a job to work for one.

I honestly have no problem whatsoever if someone has a job and is trying to save money, and then has a car given to them as a gift.  But when you get one, and you wouldn't go get a job or anything, it just screams laziness and being spoiled senseless.  If daddy buys you a car and your gas and covers insurance, while buying all of your clothes and paying for you movie tickets, may god be on break as you wrap it around a pole.

okay, fair enough. and i agree, by the way. if you're a lazy asshole you don't deserve it. if you're balancing athletics, journalism, leadership, 4 AP classes and have literally no time to get a job though, thats different, although i doubt you disagree with me on this.

but i know the kind of person you're talking about, and it makes me angry when they get everything handed to them, especially when they're from the kind of family that loses everything when daddy dies in a horrific accident.

You only need to pay insurance on vehicles you either own, or are at your residence (siblings/parents own that live with you)

Anyone with a license can go out and drive anyone elses car without paying insurance on that car.

No shit you passed, judging by what people have said in this thread a paraplegic 80 year old aboriginal australian would've passed a US driving test

I would've smacked your ass back to the ming dynasty if you failed

As someone who has taken an American driving test....

Mek, it is as easy as you think. Its fucking ridiculous. All you have to be able to do is operate a car for about 5 minutes with out crashing and your gold. I was a terrible terrible driver with almost NO experience when I passed mine, and even then I was amazed how easy it was. I couldn't believe I had worried about it.

I mean, not to say not happy for you... but that's because its good to have a license now, not because you "managed" to pass the test...
If you seriously think it was hard, I some what worry for you once you get out on the road for real.

u americans dont learn to drive its pathetic, you have to really learn to drive in the uk.
You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

The driving tests here don't really prepare you for real driving. You actually have to learn how pass the driving test rather than learn to drive. You have to use certain techniques that almost no one actually uses in real driving. So it takes more than knowing how to operate a vehicle, anyone who has playing any driving game or has driven a go cart can get the idea of driving. What they look for on your test are your ability to follow the rules of the road and your awareness of everything around you.

Americans drive automatics, right?

And the majority of their roads are just straight.

So all you need is the ability to accelerate and brake...?
