The title kinda says it. I new a new processor, I'm open to all suggestions but the price should be acceptable. I have a budget, but I really don't want to waste it because of iPwhn bills/ new cam.

I'm currently using a P4 3,4GHZ CPU and I'm thinking that a Dual-Core CPU would be the best for me.

Other specs:

8800gt
2GB (2x1GB sticks) of ram
Foxconn P35AX-S
and a Freezer7Pro CPU cooler

Lez. Do. It.

I'm too stupid to make a table...

Since you're coming from a P4, I guess you could get a 7200, but the 8400 is sooo much better.

Also, find new prices. I'm matching you and Australia sucks for computer parts.

E8400tbh. 200CHF isn't all that bad for a CPU in switzerland
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I say E7200. If you just bump up the FSB to 333, it should make an E8500 with 3MB cache, on stock volts.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Yep E8500 almost has the price of an E8400 now. So E8500.

FSB what?
front side bus?

E8400 - proven

edit: what's the multi on the E8500 and the multi on the E8400?

9.5 and 9.

I would say the .5 increase in multi wouldn't really benefit you all that much.  At 440 FSB, the E8400 runs at 3.96 GHz.

Well I'm just saying it's a modest FSB overclock, and it puts you at around 4 GHz, so a .5 multi wouldn't really be worth much moar.
