A few hundred people have been killed apparently, plus the jets shot down, artillery bombardments, tanks on fire and stuff. Almost looks like a few weeks worth of fighting have taken place in just over a day..Sup wrote:

I'm wondering why there's not much coverage on this either, maybe they're waiting for material to show?M.O.A.B wrote:

McCain's face slowly morphed into George Bushes right before my eyes today after he called for action and to put pressure on Russia.

The news that was just on said the Russian Air Force had bombed stuff some 30km's into Georgia as well, so its sort of raising questions about whether they are just defending SO as claimed.FatherTed wrote:

Russia are back!
Looks like there's more than one proud, war mongering superpower on the world stage again! Ostensibly Russia have decided to start throwing their weight around again and the fact of the matter is there is no one who can tell them to do otherwise. Russia have nuclear capabilities, a strong army (though maybe a little rusty here and there) and lots and lots of oil and gas.
God help America if they try and involve themselves in this while they're still engaged in Iraq and Afghanistan but I don't think America would be that stupid to be honest.

To be fair if America got involved expect WWIII in which case you can bet conscription would be back in the bag.Braddock wrote:

The fact is soon Russia and China are going to be stronger than Britain and America if they're not already. As I've said I doubt the US is going to lose Billions if not Trillions fighting against Russia in money as well as thousands of soldiers lives.
Georgia, I'm sorry to say isn't worth it.

Before we know it, the US is going to decide to stick their nose in this new war and send troops into there. Why not just let them fight it out on their own?
We aint getting involved, both Russia and the US are smart enough to not fight each other. Conflict will cool down before that.
I'm sure the Russians are packing up and making their way back to Moscow as we speak! Russia can do what they like and they know it.M.O.A.B wrote:

The US WILL NOT engage Russia in open warfare, they simply can't go down that road, it would be apocalyptical.Ryan wrote:

And furthermore, I think you may have to put that missile shield system on hold for a while!
C.C.C.P. FTW!
Who knows maybe we'll have our good ol' buddies the commies back. Ah then just then we'll go back to square 3 and try to innovate the hell out of each other. And just maybe... I'll see what i've always wanted to see.

Georgia are asking for a wtf-pwning really, the independance and border-argument thing is minor in comparison to the fact that Georgia wanted to join NATO and let America put missiles within miles of Russia's border.
