When most of the main countries came out the crowd got louder. Whether they were cheering or booing I have no idea, that many people making a racket it's probably both.SEREVENT wrote:
When the British team was going past did you guys hear booing? Or was it just me?
To be honest I've got to admit that the Chinese opening ceremony was pretty impressive. Mind you the large Communist states (China, North Korea etc.) always seem to have a knack for those huge mass-displays of acrobats, performers, fireworks etc. Big part of their national pride / agitprop I guess.

I'm trying real hard for everyone to forget about politics and start posting about Olympic games in Olympic spirit.

Sorry I'm English; we don't get sporting 'spirit' until we win something .

The fact that you think they fail simply because only 10% or any percent of the world watches them clearly means you failed to understand what they are about.jord wrote:

In your honest opinion, how many people do you really see caring about the Winter Olympics? In %.
They shouldn't even be called Olympics, they should just be called failympics.
I was talking about the lack of care for the Winter Olympics, if that's okay with you.
Since when does how many people watch the olympics have anything to do with it.
It was to do with my point, which was to do with my discussion with Poseidon.Vilham wrote:

So? Either you support your view that an Olympic event can fail because of viewing numbers or you don't. Which is it? Try to atleast be consistent with your views otherwise don't be surprised when people call you on it.
Holy shit those 2,800 drummers all synchronized at the same time made me think: Fuck Tibet, China is awesome
Finishes on my birthday, right now I'm only interested in Hockey or the chicks volleyball.
Anyone else like the opening ceremony performance?
Are you kidding?!?!
That was overwhelming to me, as a Western capitalist dog.
Those Chinese Commie's must of been crying with pride.
Absolutely brilliant, London's Olympics will not top that!
