Has anyone else wondered the history of it, or am I the only one left in the dark? If the latter, then share with me your knowledge. I remember hearing bits and pieces of Something Awful and 4chan.
And about the generator and Chuy's site- lol....what do I do with that code?

There was a thread on this recently. As it turned out it didn't come from the chans or SA but some forum I think

The true origins are from the movie Jaws.

If you watch it, look for the scene where chief Brody and the shark scientist are trying to convince the mayor that the beach should be closed.

If you look at the billboard behind them vandals have painted a shark fin on the sunbathing girl.

The sun bathing girl on the bilboard is is smiling and it looks just like the ASWM smiley.
