Ulrich Leuchtmann at Commerzbank said in a note he expected the dollar to rise “like a phoenix”. He said low US interest rates were not a burden on the dollar but an attraction, proof that the Federal Reserve was able to react quicker to turmoil than other central banks.

He said that in a very short period, “sentiment turned by 180 degrees – the market now believes that the US economy once again will be able to leave a crisis behind very quickly”.

I was listening to something about that on the news, bush doesn't seem to be listening to very many people these days.

That's illogical considering your trend (the slowing economy) has been happening for over a year and prices continued to rise. It fell drastically the very next day.

do you change your mind every three weeks?

You'll see confirmation in about six weeks when GM and several major banks go BK.

The BK of the Federal Reserve and public institutions follows the next month or so.

We all agree that the value of the dollar is shit, that we are a nation built on debt and that entitlement programs like Social Security are largely insolvent.

Foreign nations are dumping our currency.

Where do you see it going?

It's gonna take a lot more than high gas prices & housing corruption to bring down the USA, it's nothing more than an annoying bug right now soon to be swatted.

You can't argue with the results. The methods you can though. But it is good news for the US economy.

I hope it's not a temp fix because if it is he's done it destroying what Congress and his own father had tried to protect.

It's really about sending a message. I'm sure that you are aware immediate gas prices are dictated by speculation of what will happen. This was just one way of saying the US is serious about getting off of the Saudi Sauce. The focus is also switching to renewable energy.

Almost everyone is less than 40 miles round trip. I'm dead serious when I say I'm thinking about it. Especially if they keep it around 30k or less like they say. I also might be switching my home to solar. 970 trillion kWh falls from the sky everyday.

Actually, my grandparents were talking about how that's really affecting FL's economy. How it used to be a huge destination for retirees and others but now nobody can afford it because of insurance with all the Hurricanes and Flooding.

Get enough solar energy and you can sell it back to the bastards at the electricity company. But even then it's they who dictate the price. lol

Weren't you at one point one of those people that believed the economy would collapse?
Well, either way, I was at one point, and now I'm not. I believe the USA can overcome our recent economic troubles.
