Well, here's my issue:

In December, I wish to upgrade my computer completely. It's stupid now to make plans for the things I'll buy, I know this. But I am REALLY tempted to buy a new graphics card on friday (When I get payed).

I would get a 4870 (This one), as it seems the best to buy at the moment. I really only wanted to spend £150 for a card (Was gonna go for the 9800GTX+, but I guess it seems silly not to spend the £30 extra for this card which wipes the floor with it (I wouldn't get a 4850, either)).

Anyway, my main question is:

Should I buy a 4870 on friday or just wait until December and get it all together? Are there any cards worth waiting for for that time?

My current specs are:

E4400 OC'd to 2.8Ghz
2 x 7600GT's (SLI)
2GB OCZ Platinum RAM
460W Zalman PSU
Gigabyte SLI DS4L (Or something like that).

Halp

afaik, there isn't any major GFX launch in the horizon (correct me if I'm wrong), so the only thing you can wait for is lower prices.

You need to get a new CPU and PSU first. Wait will december and get it all. Get an ATi as well, not a nVidia card.

Also, you might want to get a new mobo to go with crossfire so you can upgrade later on.

Where are you pulling that informatiom from? Out of your ass?

For performance:cost ratio, its the shittest card out there. It only outperfoms the 4870 by a few FPS.

stfu evry1 nos dat teh 9800gx2 is the 1337st gfx c4rd on teh market it runs crysis al hi 200fps no go die ati fanboi fag or shud i kill u ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I was pretty much in the same dilemma.. didn't know if I wanted to upgrade comp part by part or just buy a new one pretty much from scratch. I'd say the smartest thing to do would be get a new one altogether.
