The literal translation for the Spanish word "chupacabra" is "goat sucker."
This creature has been a constant conundrum to cryptozoologists (scientists who study animals that may or may not be real) in North and South America for more than 50 years.
With sightings in various regions of Puerto Rico, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and the United States, this is one well-traveled beast.
An anomaly since the early 1950s, the Chupacabra was at its height of notoriety in the 1990s -- even surpassing such longtime favorites as Nessy (the Loch Ness monster) and Bigfoot.

I know this has raised some interest before.

Doesnt look flat to me, looks like hes parked at a curb or sidewalk, angles of the camera might effect that though.

You ever seen those packs of stray dogs in Mexico? They are probably at least 5 different dog breeds and perhaps another animal or two.

My friend brought a little pup home that we found in front of Papas & Beer in Ensenada. He's one of the coolest dogs I know. And I know a lot of dogs.

This is only a significant first in that it is the first "whatever sighting" that is actually in focus. The downside is that it is the ass-end of some animal that ran away. If you think it's some mystical beast of legend, shoot it and convince the rest of us of something other than the fact that you're on crack.

Curb. The shadow from the midsection of the car doesn't seem like it matches with the shadow from the front side panel. Just guessing though.

And It seems amazing that we'd still be discovering new animals... Especially in areas like Texas.
Random but: I remember seeing a show about bigfoot and someone in Texas claimed to have seen it there. I'm not too familiar with the landscape of Texas but it seems liek it wouldn't be too hard to spot a 8 foot ape walking around if it really existed.

It's head seems to go down further than it should when it is running. Again, I think something is up with the length in the front. I'm off to look for more info and possibly the whole video.

Dewitt County Sherriff's Office's deputy Corporal Brandol Riedel caught images on his cruiser's dash cam on August 8 of what he believes to be a real live chupacabra. What makes this chupacabra sighting different than others in the southern United States and Mexico is that Riedel committed the creature to tape in full daylight. The tape, lasting less than a minute, shows an animal, supposedly a chupacabra, loping down the road away from the squad car. The animal is dark-skinned and hairless. Its front legs appear slightly shorter than its hind legs, giving the creature a stilted and awkward gait. But it is when the animal turns its head in profile that you realize you are not seeing a run-of-the-mill dog. The animal's snout is longer than a normal dog's snout, giving it an out-of-proportion appearance. You can see the video here.
