I woke up this morning hoping to play BF2, but when I booted the game up, and went into the account login screen, there are two accounts, an offline "defaultplayer", and my online account, where the name is supposed to be, it is just blank, and it say's when I try logging into "BFHQ", that I need an online account. There was a problem last night at the end of a round. When the round ended, the game suddenly shut down by itself, went into windows XP desktop, and my computer ran really, really slow after that. I had to restart and everything seemed to be ok. I hope my account didn't "die" somehow.

Geez.
The game shutting down by itself the going really slow is a memory leak.
Your account did not die, it can't, it doesn't live in the first place. Re log in and you'll be fine.

If restarting doesnt work, delete the "Profiles" folder in My Documents/Battlefield 2
Your account info is saved on the EA servers, not on your machine-> you cannot damage it. Deleting the Profiles folder will make the game delete the information it stores on your account- which seems to have corrupted. Next time you start BF2, retrieve your account and you will be fine...

I've had so many fucking problems with this game since I installed it two weeks ago, I don't even fucking know/care anymore. Maybe I should ask EA to delete my account (if it mysteriously didn't disappear due to some anomalous computer error), and never play again.
I went into "manage accounts", and retrieved my account using my nickname and password, and it worked. But all my video/control/audio settings are default, and when I try to update internet servers, it updates them indefinitely, and now it say's that there are no servers at all.
Just leave it for a while, log out, log back in untick all the boxes, update, tick the ones you want and update again.

The profile folder has all the key bind info. So, we you deleted it, you deleted your key setting and the like.Monkey_Business wrote:
