I have just come from reading a post about how someone who was showing no signs of the traditional sence of 'whoring' being kicked from a server. I think it's about time that someone, (me, yeah I know, I'm sorry too,) defined such use of the word as, I'm afraid to say, most people, (mostly server admins,) see it. This is also a poll to see if I'm headed in the right direction, or simply into a brick wall as I so usualy am. I will take all into account.
Okay, the word "Whoring" in the traditional gaming sence, derives from players spending a lot of time in one role. In the past this referred to weapons a player was using, but now in the futuristic times we livein, gamers also have access to things such as veichles, or specific roles, which extends the meaning of the word to referr to weapons, veichles and roles. (This is how you write if you've been reading Law textbooks all night, I'll try to keep the next part interesting.)
Of course, the word does not describe the action. To whore in life is to prostrate yourself for others to use, so in gaming, whoring is actually the oppposite - you are grabbing the veichle, not it asking you to "get in and take a ride, heh heh." This means that technically, the player is not the whore, (even with the suggestion to "Player" or "playah",) it is the veichle, weapon or role. That means YOU, you filthy little people are the guy in the brown overcoat and the key to the motel room.
Okay, now we've got the unpleasantness out of the way, (one would hope,) I would now like to determine what 'whoring' actually covers, with a close referance of course, to Kirby's Dreamland, I mean, Battlefield 2, (you'd be surprised how easy it is to get those two confused, one has a little pink puffed up guy, an annoying little gassbag who runs everything, and the other is Kirby's Dreamland - zing!)
First, there is the original BF2 "That guy takes the *insert veichle* all the time and is thusly a whore," meaning of the word, which is what most people still consider the term, however, we must get with the times and realise what it truely is. Take for example, a server with the rules "No Whoring!" Most players wouldn't dream of taking a certain veichle all the time, so we don't worry about this, and join in an effort to have a jolly old time. The admin who run these servers have a different view of whoring. It includes any of the following, (or indeed, if the idea that you are doing one of the following crosses the admin's mind it is also considered whoring.)
- Taking a veichle more than once. This refers not to a round, or even a day, but within an admin's memory span, which differs from person to person. Have fun guessing. Players with conspicuous names may find this hard.
- Killing more than three people in a row. This means that up on the messages in the top left hand corner, if your name is there more than three times without anything occuring bewen them, you are a whore you nasty person you. You're using something too long if you come accross some haples enemies standing in a row, and thus, are a whore. This applies to veichles, weapons and can apply to artillery fire too.
- Getting to a veichle before an admin that wanted it gets to it, and wrongdoing the admin by making them think of another form of transport. Basicly, if you make them think, you're banned. That tank was the admin's pimp, and whore or not, you don't go muscling in on someone elses turf.
- Applies also to Commander's position. If you earn it because you are several ranks above the Lance Corporal that is the server admin and they wanted to get the perk of the x2 score on a win, off you go - you're banned. Once is one time too many - you're a whore.
- If you are Commander and on the admin's team, (you unlucky bastard, you,) and through some horrendous fault of your own the team looses, (horrendous faults may include coping with a team that likes to try to see how many bullets they can catch,) you will be kicked. You are whoring the commander position if you are on a loosing team. Sorry, but that's the way it goes.
- If you kill a server admin more than once in the same round, (sometimes applies to memory span as well,) you will be banned. remember - you are there for the administrator's amusement and entertainment. This has nothing to do with anyone else having a good time. Dance monkey, dance!
(In this occurence, you may find yourself needing to learn the meaning of the term "Kill whore.")
- If you humiliate the admin in any way, which includes killing them with a knife or defribulator, you will be called a knife or defribulator whore. I mean, the only way you could have got past the admin's superior defences is if you tried time and time again with the same weapon until you succeeded. Whore!
