So I've been trying to pleh TF2 for the past Six hours however whenever I click the "Launch TF2" button on Steam or the shortcut I have on the toolbar it says it's launching TF2 (as it should) however it then says it has to verify the game or something. The "verifying" stays at 0% for a few seconds and then jumps straight to 100%, and then the pop-up goes away yet TF2 remains unlaunched. I've restarted Steam and my computer many times but it is still always doing this. Also I can play CS, DoD or any other Steam game just fine.

Any help please?

Right click on the game, go to properties, game files, verfiy intregity of game cache.  Once it finishes you should be all set.

Okay I did that but now it's got to update again, is that normal to need to reinstall the last few patches after a verification?

Not to my knowledge, no.  May have been a new patch though.

Nah it's not, if a big update is coming in a few days why would they make a hotfix?

Is it working though?

If you had to verify the game files then I think it means something got corrupted, and its downloading the corrupted files again. After its done everything might be fine.

Yeah, it's fine now. But keep the thread in case anyone has a similar problem in the future.
