Ok so i've had this problem for a while now and what is does is it just stops for like a second or two very often(like every minute). I dont notice it browsing the internet but on BF2 or COD4 it can happen at some of the worst times .

Im using a wireless adapter but my sisters laptop seems fine and the computer thats plugged into the modem is fine too, oh and it does the same on speedtest, it calculates the ping, stays on 0% for a while, then jumps to 50% then 100%, but then it uploads like it should do. Also none of the other computers do that on speedtest.

So im just wondering if anyone had a similar problem, what did they do to fix it?

Could it be location?  Interference between your compy and the router?  This has also been discussed in multiple topics, might wanna try searching for a solution there as well.

You problem is almost certainly wireles.

Try updating the drivers for your network adapter, or try a different one if you can.

If at all possible, connect through a cable for a bit to see if you do still experience problems.

Ok so i had i've had a look around and found this
Worth a try?

Also
So if you’re experiencing excessive network lags on your Vista machine, especially compared to non-Vista machines, it might be worthwhile disabling auto-tuning. Do this by opening up an administrative Command Window (right-click, Run as administrator), and type in the following command:
Sorry if its obvios but, whats it on about?

Vista has the administrator priviledges crap- UAC (That annoying popup that shows every time you want to move a folder or delete a file).

The normal command prompt (Start-> Type "command" into the search box), restricts access to some commands you type. To get round this you need to launch command prompt with "Administrator Priviledges" - To do this click Start, Type command into the search box, then RIGHT click on the "Command Prompt" and select "Run as Administrator"
