Built my fist rig about 4 months ago and recently i have been experiencing some problems. sometimes it will freeze and sometimes my screen will turn purple and i can't do anything. I am not doing anything inparticular when it happens sometimes i will be playing a game or sometimes i will be just browsing the net. Any ideas what i can do to fix it?
Hey Mike
Sounds like RAM from what you just said. First off go to the manufacturer's site of your RAM model, check your motherboard RAM voltages are set in accordance with what your sticks need. Is it 4gb 800Mhz OCZ RAM you have?
Also try using a program called memtest - http://www.memtest.org/ - which will stress the memory and return any errors the RAM sticks themselves have.
Hope that helped.

correct i have 4 gbs of OCZ DDR2 1066 and the manufactures specs for voltage is between 2.1 and 2.3 i entered the bios and it was set on auto at 1.8 so i bumped it up to 2.1. Is this ok? Do i need to change anything else?
test & see if it happens again now.

Why exactly did you bump the RAM voltage?mikeyc159 wrote:

Tell me if there is a 1066MHz ram that works at 1.8V.Sup wrote:

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
They reached 906MHz @ 1.8V, what's your point? There are no JEDEC 1066MHz rams. Some ram might work at 1066MHz @ 1.8V, but not with good latencies. There is no full product line that would be made to run 1066MHz @ 1.8V.Sup wrote:

My point is he bumped the voltage. Did he say he bumped the frequency too? 1066 are 800MHzs at the beginning before you OC them (EPP). he only said he bumped voltage, his ram might still be on 800MHz so I would like some clarification. He says he has PC 8500 but are they running at that speed?DeathUnlimited wrote:

Ok, should have said that straight ahead and there would have been no battle about voltage standards.Sup wrote:
