"Amused" now, as opposed to being so enraged and outraged by their policies that you couldn't even see through your seething rage to discuss the Olympics, as you were about hmm, 2 hours ago?

Funny that! .

Yes, Uzique.  You have shown me the light.  I've learned to follow this guy's advice.

Why is playing by the rules or not playing at all such a hard concept in this thread?

Me thinks some people supporting China's " right to cheat " are complete losers that resort to this behavior habitually.  These are probably the same turds that hack in BF2 games and ruin it for everyone.

Such low self esteem, probably got their asses kicked in everything they have done in real life.  They make excellent commie fodder where everyone is placed at the same level as the lowest common denominator.

Of course I could be wrong and they are just super people who do great at everything and don't mind losing to people who cheat.

Who is supporting China's cheating? I hope none of that is directed at me because all of my posts in this thread have just been in an effort to steer the discussion away from pointless human-rights discussions.

Here's a serious question...  Why do they even bother with age requirements seeing as how easy it is to get around them?  Why do they bother with banning certain drugs too?  The video I tried to post earlier was going to show the "all drug olympics" sketch from SNL.  It's pretty hilarious, but honestly, I'd rather watch a bunch of coked up and doped up athletes perform superhuman feats than have the annoying notion that everyone is trying to look legitimate while a large portion of people are actually cheating.

True, but when you consider the enthusiasm they've shown in past Olympics compared to the relatively low ratings our Olympics coverage gets when it's even held here, I'd say China cares more.
Low rating... pfft your nuts.

(National rating = USA)
http://www.zap2it.com/tv/ratings/zap-ra … 7740.story
NBC's 19.0 rating/30 share in primetime was an improvement over Monday's 17.6/28 and once again destroyed the competition. CBS took second at 4.1/6. ABC's 2.9/5 was good for third, while FOX took fourth with a 2.2/4. The CW managed only a 0.6/1.
http://www.zap2it.com/tv/ratings/zap-ra … 1131.story
NBC still dominated the night, however, drawing a 16.5 rating/27 share. CBS led the rest of the field with a 3.9/6. ABC, 2.7/5, edged FOX, 2.4/4, for third. The CW managed only a 0.7/1.
That's at least four times as many viewers compared to the rest.
Back when the games were held in Athens, the story was different.
What does that mean? You said the Olympics gets poor ratings. That is not true at all.

I got confused...  It wasn't the Athens games that had low ratings, it was the Torino 2006 games that bombed.

None of them have really bombed. The only ones that show a dip are the ones in a time zone that doesn't suck for Americans. This year it's even more insane due to the availability of prime time coverage.

Controversy after the Uneven bars final. Nastia Luikin loses out on Gold after a spectacular performance to HE Kexin of the PR, but hold on a sec:

Source: BBC Live Action feed:

1158: Nastia Liukin of the United States, should, according to my BBC colleagues on TV, have scored better than He Kexin and they are rather surprised when she only equals her score. Just nine months ago, according to The Associated Press, the Chinese government's news agency, Xinhua, reported that He Kexin was 13, which would have made her ineligible to be on the team that won gold this week and for this uneven bars final. However, last weekend, an International Gymnastics Federation statement, said: "The FIG has received confirmation from the International Olympic Committee that all passports are valid for all gymnasts competing in the Beijing Olympic Games." This could become as controversial as the time Del Boy doctored Rodney's passport to make him eligible for the Groovy Gang.

A review into this pls IOC so that Nastia and the US Womens All around team can get their Gold that they deserve....

Is the IOC going to do anything about it? Of course not.

The IOC, like FIFA and the UN are more interested in money than doing what they are supposed to. We have all heard of the corruption cases involving the UN, FIFA and other organizations. Why should the IOC be any different. After all they did choose China to hold the 2008 Olympics. Enough said!

IOC is the most corrupted out of those three you mentioned, then its UN and then FIFA.

Cheering for. You said it yourself in the medal count topics. That you wanted China to win because of the US's apparent "ego".

Oh yes I wanted them to win for reasons stated before. But I'm cheering for the athletes and not for the coaches who force them to take drugs to win.
