I recently got a wireless adapter card for my desktop PC and it works great... for browsing the internet. But when I try to play games I get variable ping and basically it's just not cut out for gaming.

Luckily I still have a wired connection in my room and I'd like to be able to use that. I disconnect from the wireless network and try using my wired connection but it says there's a problem with the connection. I try repairing it and it just doesn't work.

Do I have to uninstall the wireless card using the device manager before I can use a wired connection? What should I do to be able to use my wired connection instead of my wireless?

EDIT: Disabling wireless network card did nothing. The wired connection can't repair because it can't "renew my IP address".

Why the hell would you need a wireless connection when you got wired, on a stationary computer?!

Also, check that all cables are connected, and that the router/modem is on.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

i'm not sure if this is proper or whatnot, but if my router is being stupid i turn my PC off, unplug router, replug (let lights settle), then reboot.

I got a wireless connection because I'll be moving soon to a place that doesn't have wiring. So instead of taping a bunch of shit on the floors or ceiling (no I'm not going to be drilling on a rental apartment), I just went with wireless.

Also, all wires are plugged in and the router is on (the router has wired and wireless). The connection was working fine until I installed the wireless adapter, so I know it can't be the router.

You should just be able to go in to Network Connections, disable the wireless connection through it and enable the wired connection.

So, not only do you steal but point at someone else when the hammer comes down. Have the decency not to fuck with other peoples legal standings.

I tried that but it still has issues giving me an IP address.

Bah, I guess I'll just unplug the wifi card altogether and install it when I actually need it.

I've noticed we've had similar views on some things, but not everything.
