If you put them up folding locally or send them to one of us is not the point here. The point is that those systems should work optimally for a good cause. Many people on this gaming forum update their computers at a regular basis. Many have old Pentium 4s and Athlon XPs lying around, that they have no use for at all. But looking at the specs you posted in your table makes me think how much I would get for my XP2000 (coincidence but yes I have that exact same  Athlon that is posted in your table). I can't afford it. If you really want all this donating to happen then you should start first. To me it sounds ironic, you have received so many hardware for free but you don't donate anything. And no, I'm not trying to show my superiority as you put it.

This is not saying anyone is better than someone else, if you do not want to donate, or can't donate, no one is forcing you to :S

The people that do donate do it because they want to, not because they are forced.

Well, excuse me, you're the one storming in here, basically telling people not to help us. Donation is not something you're forced to do. It's something you do because you want to help a good cause. You can't expect us to just sit by and not do anything to support our cause, that would be killing the purpose of a charity organization.

We don't want these computers for our own enjoyment. We don't want them to refurbish them and give them away. We want to put that unused silicon into a good use. What's better, having your old computer lying in the basement doing nothing, waiting for the next spring cleaning, or shipping it away to a place where someone invests both time and money into getting it running, and working for a good cause? We even offer to arrange with shipping costs, if neccesary. We're not trying to force anyone to do anything, we're just saying "Hey, got some old, unused CPU power?", just like the Red Cross and whatnot asks "Hey, got a dime to spare?". The difference is, you can't donate megahertz to the Red Cross.

Also, jord, I don't think a jobless person who pays for his own shit should do any kind of charity. They're the kinda people a lot of charity goes toward.

The argument that I should donate, well, I'm donating everything I can! My gaming rig is folding 24/7, my media rig is folding 24/7, my laptop is folding 24/7. I've got the will and the resources to host more computers than I currently am, which I know many people don't have.

And how does your mommy feel about paying for the electric bill while you do all this?

(just because you are folding does not make you all high and mighty, like I said earlier, it is POSSIBLE that folding will benefit someone somewhere, but it is not guaranteed. You act like you are curing cancer every minute you speak, but in reality, you are doing nothing unless someone figures out something they did not know before, so you could be wasting all your time/effort/electricity doing absolutely nothing.

So get the fuck down off your soapbox already, you are not any better than any of us, and at least we have the decency to not make a thread about watching our mothers fucking people.

Wow, you sure know how to argue.

FYI, folding isn't some magical experimenting that could find the cure for cancer, it is testing molecules virtually, to help us understand them better, how they form, why they turn unstable, and so on. Folding holds the key to finding a cure for cancer, and many other similar diseases, not to mention how much time it saves for the people who actually do these experiments for a living. It's not just some scientific roundabout where you test random numbers for magical cures.

"How does mommy feel about paying the electric bill"? Pretty good, I guess, as her TV is on 24/7, and my current folding rigs eat less than our fridge.

I don't wanna get (more) offensive here, this thread is not for arguing about this. We could start a side-topic on this, where we could discuss this like adults. We should get a mod to clean it up a bit.

Why do you people even invade our thread with this? We're running a charity organization here, not a second-hand computer shop! If you don't want to/can't afford to donate, or have a tumour fetish, then don't. Don't start a flamewar about if you should donate or not. It's up to each of his own to decide. We're fighting for a good cause, and we want to fight as much as we can for that cause.

And FYI, I'm on wind energy, which also is shit cheap. My folding is green, bitch!

And, with that, I ask a mod to clean this mess up. I'll make a topic to discuss this matter tomorrow.
