Editing a DVD for a presentation (Need help fast)

I need to convert a DVD to a file type usable with Windows Movie maker etc. I need to cut down the DVD into separate segments. I've been trying different programs all day. I need a good one which will work properly. Anyone have something?

I do have a deadline, speed would be appreciated.

I have converted with them, but when I go to play, only the windows effect shows and the audio plays.

Alright I've got it decoded with Divx, anyone have a good video editor for Divx?

Do you need to rip the DVD?

If so, use Magic DVD Ripper. It's free, works great, and makes an .avi file.

From there, you can use Windows Movie Maker or something to clip out a segment.
