Obama and McCain are going to be at the evangelical megachurch in Lake Forest, CA (thing holds  a zillion people) talking about things such as HIV and other evangelical issues. I was thinking about going, but i guess its on TV so I'll just check it out from there.

But anyways, this is there first appearance together. Thoughts? Predictions from the audience?

Edit: BTW i think its on Fox at 5? if you want to watch.

I predict that trivial social issues like gay marriage will trump the real economic issues.

Rick Warren said he would not mention either gay marriage or abortion.
Interesting I think.

That's good then...  Maybe we'll get to things like Iraq, balancing the budget, and healthcare.

Warren Warren Warren.

I think he is turning into a media whore. His mug on time magazine annoys me.

And I sometimes go to Saddleback.

Winston Churchill  was old too...

And all politics aside, i think obama totally fucked his time up. He took literally, twice as long to get through half of questions wiht uh every other word?

To me he came off very selfish.

Obama is horrible live with no speech.

and "that quesiton is over my pay grade" when asked about abortion

LOL QUESITONS ABOVE HIS PAY GRADE YOURE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT

and i loved "I dont think justice (so and so) should have been nominated because they didnt have enough experience"

The crowd seemed to like McCain better.

Obama is just not that impressive when he is speaking off the cuff.

Considering that most evangelicals are conservative, Obama wasn't exactly in his element.  It would be like expecting McCain to do well at an environmentalist convention in San Francisco.

The evangelicals kissed Hillary's ass?  Wow...  I was so right about linking insanity to religion.

Wow, I live very close to this church. I wish I could have seen this.

EDIT: It's actually a nice brand new church where my friend plays violin in most of the weekend masses. I mean, I'm atheist so I rarely get to see her play there but I've played there myself for a concert and it's very nice, brand new, huge and just finished a big new teen center building that I've heard described as, "...holy shit I don't think I've ever seen something as amazingly magical..."

CNN has video

And there are vids up at You Tube.

I've been saying this since day one.  Everyone gushes over his speeches, but he sucks at expressing himself without a script.  The number of "uh"s and "ah"s are almost painful they're so numerous.

I'd rather take "uh's and "ah's" over "give hot bottled water to babies" any day of the week.

I just don;t understand, like his answer on abortion. Why he just didn't cleanly answer. Because everyone already knows where he stands on it; Just be honest. I just wish he was a little more truthful. Like I know that its the wrong audience, but other people are watching aswell....

I liked how they asked each of them questions without letting them hear the others response

And hearing them both talk unscripted is good, even though they both are obviously in campaign mode.

McCain is better off the cuff than he is at teleprompter...

Bring the debates.

I love how everyone takes extemporaneous speaking abilities as the sole determinant of a candidates' qualification for office. Giving speeches to people without a script is definitely the only thing our leaders do, after all.
