Hey guys I'm a new member of the site and I had a question and I was hoping someone could possibly help me out. When I play Battlefield 2 I have to either run my settings on low and medium but I lag to high heaven when I try to turn my graphics up abit. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if that's because of my video card, which is a GeForce 6200, it's about 2 years old and my computer is just a Walmart bought computer that was upgraded. I'm 14 and only know somethings about the computer but this is what I do know for the computer. My system runs Microsoft Windows XP Professional version 2002, service pack 2. The computer itself is a Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.93GHz 2.93GHz,1.0 GB of RAM. Like I said I only know alittle bit about my computer so if you guys would explain your answer for me it would be much apprechiated.

Thank You Very Much,

yeah, I don't think you should be expecting any better performance than that

your performance sounds right for that hardware.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Celeron is shit anyway. 2GB ram is adviced to play BF2 on high. I've played BF2 on a 6200 for a few months on low/medium, so just like everyone else says:

Do you think this would be compatible with my computer. It's a 2GB memory stick.

Imma reckon he's DDR1.

Look around for "PC-3200" or "DDR-400".

i have an 8800gts and still run bf2 on low

use these settings, and change geometry to either medium or low if your system can't handle it

Having a card capable of running it maxed with 8XAA - twice, to run it on all low 800x600. The only thing that provides anything that would impact in the game is dynamic shadows.

it's not really on 800x600. it's running at 1920x1200.

i've always played on low, and i've always played pretty well. high settings seem to make me have worse hitreg, but it's probably just in my head.

i'm pretty sure i would destroy you with my settings on low, so does it really matter?

There's a reason for technology advancing. BF2 looks better than CS 1.6.

Thanks Spot,

I will have to earn some money then put in my parents account and use their credit card. I may also be getting a headset, joystick, and desk. I'm a lucky kid.

I put the settings on but I hate how the lines on the guns like the Eryx are fuzzy. What can I do?

Low texture settings make those fuzzy. Until you get a beefier graphics card and more RAM, not much you can do, unfortunately .

Also if you give us the model number of your computer that could help. And if you can give the specs of your power supply (you would probably have to open the computer for that), that would help for picking a graphics card... If you have a Fry's electronics store nearby check them out too; they often have really good prices

I support ig. If you have ever played BF2 on a high level (which obviously you haven't) you also had your video settings on low.

I think you're better of buying a whole new PC....

But if you really want to upgrade (and therefor you have to open your PC like max stated): add another gig of ram + an AGP videocard.

EDIT:

Expansion slots (total)
Slot type     Quantity
PCI     Three (two available)
DIMM     Two (one available)
AGP     No AGP slot on this model

Lol.. don't even bother upgrading that machine...Tell your parents to buy a new one.
