I've already got 8800GTS (G92), hard-drives, dvd drives, soundcard, monitor, mouse, keyboard.

Just need new

CPU
Mobo
PSU
Case
RAM

And vista x64

Was thinking of
E8500
4GB OCZ DDR2
Corsair HX 620W
Haven't got a clue what mobo I'd need, don't need SLi, not gonna overclock the shit out of the CPU, what would be best?
Need suggestions for the case too, preferably one that would fit the Zalman CNPS9700, or another cpu cooler.

Budget is around £5-600 I don't want to spend too much on it, if possible.

Thanks, and sensible suggestions will be appreciated <3 <3

Can't go wrong. I've got a friend with that board and he loves it. If you ever do want to OC, this is the board to do it on.

I also suggest the Thermaltake V1. Not saying the Zalman is a bad cooler (it's most certainly not), but it's an excellent cooler. I've got it and my E6660 is running at 30C with an overclock to 3.2.

edit: fail bbcode

edit deux: oh and for a case, go for this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … =CA-156-CM

a bit expensive though.

It's got okay reviews. Anandtech said it's good, but it's got a couple of annoyances. One being no tool-less installation, which was a fucking PAIN IN THE ASS for me when I was building my first ever rig (my current one).

I've got the 900 and it's a bit cramped. That one's bigger so it could help.

CPU: for starters lets say E8400 (unless you will still have some money left for E8500)

Mobo: Abit quad GT is a very good mobo: Abit QuadGT or Asus P5E

My personal preferences for ram are Corsair Dominator or Crucial Ballistix (but they don't have 4GB kit so you would have to be buying 2x2GB kits)
PSU: the one you put in the list is a great choice
Case: thats up to you to pick

On low they're pretty much silent, which is what they will be on if he's not OCing much.

Modular PSU's are great but its not a must and they are more expensive. He should concentrate on the main components first such as the CPU and the mobo.

This should cost £614, but I got some 10% off voucher from Overclockers, so I'd be saving ~£60

Even though you have 10% sheriff just have a quick glance at some other retailers as when i was pricing my machine up ocuk were always the most expensive.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

No, I just encourage you to make your PSU that.

The rig looks very nice but the extra money for E8500 is a bit of waste of money. Even if you're not gonna oc 3.0 is enough for all games. You don't really need the extra 160Mhz.

It was only £17 more, I've heard that the chip will be of better quality than that of the average E8400 aswell.

The Seasonic M12 700W Modular (my PSU xD) is not much more than that corsair (£103 I think it is on OC).  The Corsairs are made by seasonic so your not sacraficing quality.  The only draw back with it is the second fan.  It has a small secondary fan that kicks in under extreme load to help keep things in check.  Nice.  However, it will not re-set.  So, if you get into intensive gaming and the fan kicks in.  The only way to re-set it (as far as I can tell) is to switch the whole machine of.  Which is a bit of a bastard.
